Svitzer Arabia SPC is seeking a Finance Manager who can combine strong technical skills with leadership capability to join our team in Qalhat, Oman. You will play a critical role in driving financial performance, ensuring compliance and supporting safe, reliable service to our customer, Oman LNG.

As the Finance Manager, you will be overall responsible for the financial management and oversight of Svitzer Arabia SPC. You will partner closely with the Contract Manager and the leadership team, and you will ensure the business operates with robust controls, accurate reporting, and a strong focus on cost efficiency and governance.

What you will do

The Finance Manager will be overall responsible for the financial management and oversight of Svitzer Arabia SPC, including accounting & reporting, taxation, working capital monitoring and optimisation. You will ensure full compliance with statutory audit, corporate and regulatory obligations by maintaining accurate financial records, effective financial controls and providing reliable financial information to support data driven decision-making. Also, the Finance Manager will act as a business partner to drive financial performance, cost efficiency, and governance to support the achievement of Svitzer’s business and financial objectives.

Your key responsibilities will be:

Accounting, Reporting & Compliance:

  • Period-end close activities such as accruals, payroll journal, prepayment, etc.
  • Maintain accurate and timely financial records in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Svitzer GAAP policies and Oman requirements.
  • Prepare and submit internal and external reporting accurately and timely (Systems: MS Dynamics D365 and OneStream).
  • Prepare and conclude the statutory financial statements, lead the annual audits to ensure timely completion and ensure compliance with company governance policies and stay ahead of regulatory changes.
  • Maintain internal controls by managing financial risks and maintaining a strong control environment with documented evidence of key controls.
  • Responsible for tax compliance, including preparation/review/submission of returns, filings, and correspondence with authorities.

Finance Operations:

  • Oversee daily finance operations, including payments to vendors, crew, and employees and review and approve payments in line with internal policies and controls.
  • Effectively managing and optimizing working capital and working closely with the regional/HQ team and maintaining strong banking relationships to ensure liquidity and operational continuity.
  • Ensure timely invoicing of services to the customer and follow-up on receivables to minimise bad debt.
  • Continuously improving finance processes to enhance efficiency and compliance.

Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Lead preparation of annual budgets and monthly full year estimates, supported by detailed income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow analysis.
  • Deliver clear variance analysis and financial storylines, highlighting risks and opportunities.
  • Perform contract escalations and take direct accountability for financial performance, ensuring results are met and communicated effectively.

Business Partnering & Leadership:

  • Act as a proactive business partner to the leadership team, providing financial advice, insight and challenge to support sound business decisions.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers, including monthly updates.
  • Lead and promote a culture of compliance, integrity, and cost-consciousness across the organisation.
  • Serve as a role model, operating with professionalism, setting the standard for ownership and responsibility across entity departments.

Who we are looking for

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • University degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • CA professional qualification.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of senior finance experience, with management responsibility as team leader or head of department, working as part of an international team.
  • Strong financial acumen with exposure to IFRS, tax regulations, governance and risk & control frameworks.
  • Proven track record in statutory reporting, lead audit, budget planning, and performance analysis.
  • Hands-on experience in ERP/finance systems. Prior exposure to MS Dynamics and OneStream is an advantage.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
  • Prior industry experience in towage, shipping, or transportation is preferred but not mandatory.
