Specific responsibilities
The role will involve providing enhanced retrofit advice to support householders in achieving low‑carbon homes. The successful candidate will be required to undertake activities such as mid‑ or post‑installation site visits, carrying out assessments where necessary, maintaining relationships with installers and builders, and lodging installations to the TrustMark data warehouse. While the postholder will be expected to carry out these responsibilities as part of the role, comprehensive training and onboarding support will be provided at the start to ensure they are fully equipped to do so. The role also includes supporting Retrofit Assessors, developing guidance and materials to improve advisory delivery, ensuring client confidentiality is upheld, and working closely with team members to support effective workload planning, project development, and delivery.
In addition to core duties, the postholder may provide senior administrative support to project managers, offer further support to Retrofit Assessors, and contribute to the development of guidance and materials for the wider team. Training and mentoring will be available to support the postholder in taking on these responsibilities. The role may also include representing AtkinsRealis at external events and conferences, helping to promote the organisation’s expertise and profile.
Competencies
The role requires the ability to develop strong technical and professional competencies, including identifying necessary remedial works, developing ventilation strategies, and producing improvement option evaluations that demonstrate impacts on energy bills and carbon emissions. The postholder will be expected to review retrofit design documentation, engage effectively with customers to manage expectations, and maintain professional standards. Initial and ongoing training will be provided to support competency development, alongside requirements for Continuing Professional Development and keeping up to date with technical changes such as PAS 2035 updates.
Working relationships and contacts
The postholder will be managed by a senior member of the Retrofit team and will be supported to build and maintain effective relationships with project funders, stakeholders, colleagues across AtkinsRealis, and external partners. The role involves direct contact with households, installers, and builders, following established procedures to gather information and signpost clients to appropriate services. Structured induction and team support will be provided to ensure the postholder can confidently undertake these interactions.
At AtkinsRéalis, we seek to hire individuals with diverse characteristics, backgrounds and perspectives. We strongly believe that world-class talent makes no distinctions based on gender, ethnic or national origin, sexual identity and orientation, age, religion or disability, but enriches itself through these differences.
