WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

We are looking for an experienced legal counsel to join our EMEA Legal Marketplace team to lead legal work in support of the purchase, leasing and construction of new stores and non-retail spaces in driving Nike EMEA’s marketplace growth.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • University degree in law and at least 5 years post qualification experience in a law firm or in-house 

  • Experience in retail leasing, major office leases, warehouse/distribution center leases, land acquisition/disposition, and/or construction or development contracting

  • Proficiencies with drafting, negotiating, and solving issues

  • Strong bias for action and strategic thinking

  • Ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, both verbally and in writing, at all levels

  • Business fluency in English; written and oral. Strong working knowledge of another primary European language would be an asset

  • Excellent organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple (lease) transactions simultaneously

  • Team player and leader who can enhance performance, improve productivity and get results on tight deadlines

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

  • Structuring, drafting, reviewing, negotiating and providing legal advice on a wide range of contracts and agreements for Nike retail and non-retail locations, including leases, amendments, work letters, renewals, options, license agreements.

  • Identifying legal issues, articulating clear analysis of legal risks, creating and implementing structured solutions to efficiently meet business objectives while ensuring legal protections.

  • Maintain deliberate cross functional connections across the Global Office of the General Counsel and many other functions in EMEA.

  • Deploy and manage outside legal counsel to ensure high-value and cost-effective representation.

  • Prioritize high value/high risk work while efficiently resourcing low risk/low value work, including development of processes and systems to streamline workflow.

  • Lead a (small) team and are responsible for the development of the experienced individual contributors. 

  • You will be responsible for talent management, may provide input into succession planning and segmentation activities, performance management, pay, and resourcing decisions for direct and indirect reports.
