Tech Lead, Quality Assurance Engineering

We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our global merchant acquiring platform. This role demands strong technical depth in automation, the ability to lead quality strategy across teams, and close collaboration with developers, business analysts, and technical leaders.

Has to own and drive automation architecture, system-level testing, and quality assurance for both code and configuration. In addition to hands-on contributions, you will guide teams on best practices, enforce testing standards, and continuously improve QA frameworks, tooling, and processes—particularly across batch systems and API-driven services.

What will you do

• Lead and expand automation strategy and execution for testing the core merchant acquiring platform.
• Act as a technical authority for QA, partnering with BAs, developers, architects, and tech leads to define quality approaches and test scenarios.
• Design, write, review, and maintain robust automated test cases for new features and enhancements based on User Story Acceptance Criteria.
• Provide leadership within an Agile/Scrum environment, actively contributing to sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and release readiness.
• Own and drive test planning, aligning with BAs and Software Development Engineers.
• Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide early, actionable quality feedback and ensure testability.
• Architect, enhance, and maintain test automation frameworks, with a strong focus on:
  • Batch processing systems
  • API-based services across the platform
• Lead and contribute to the BDD framework, enabling teams to:
• Oversee and support system, regression, and end-to-end testing to validate critical business workflows.
• Log, track, and manage defects; take full ownership and accountability to drive resolution and ensure re-testing closure.
• Drive continuous improvement of testing standards, automation practices, and QA processes across the platform.
• Mentor and guide QA engineers, promoting technical excellence and quality ownership.

What you need to have

• 8+ years of experience in software testing across all phases of the test lifecycle, with strong hands-on automation experience.
• Strong automation and scripting skills, with hands-on experience in Python (PyTest).
• Proven ability to design and build bespoke test automation frameworks and tools.
• Experience generating automated test cases from User Story Acceptance Criteria and integrating them into a BDD automation framework.
• Good knowledge of databases with strong working experience in SQL.
• Solid understanding of system testing, regression testing, and end‑to‑end validation.
• Hands-on experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and JIRA
• Familiarity with prompt engineering, LLM‑based features, or automation tools.

What would be great to have

• Familiarity with CI/CD and SDLC tools such as Jenkins, Rundeck, GitLab, or similar.  
• Exposure to cloud-based environments and containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Prior work in payments, banking or regulated fintech with emphasis on auditability, privacy and security.
• Mentoring experience and a pragmatic, customer-focused mindset that balances innovation with operational rigor.
• Ensure ethical AI usage, data governance compliance, and secure handling of model outputs.
• Stay updated with emerging AI technologies and recommend adoption strategies.
• Experience with AI APIs (OpenAI, Azure AI, AWS Bedrock) is a plus.
• Govern responsible AI usage, performance tuning, security, and observability for AI workloads.
