Position Summary

You will build, validate, and operationalize forecasting models that inform commercial decisions across the enterprise. Partnering closely with the Forecasting Lead and cross-functional teams (commercial analytics, finance, supply chain, data engineering), you’ll transform diverse healthcare and market datasets into robust forecasts, clear insights, and scalable solutions. This role requires contributing to the design, building, enchancing, and operating of next-gen forecasting capabilities to increase actionable insight generation

Key Responsibilities

Forecasting model development

  • Design, train, and tune time-series and ML-based demand-forecasting models (e.g., ARIMA/ETS/state-space/BSTS/Prophet; gradient boosting; random forests; regularized regression; occasional deep learning such as LSTM/TFT when warranted).
  • Engineer features from sales, market, access, promo, macroeconomic, and external datasets; handle seasonality, holidays, launches, LOE, and stock-outs.
  • Quantify and communicate uncertainty via prediction intervals; run scenario/sensitivity analyses.
  • Experimentation, validation, and quality
  • Implement rigorous backtesting (rolling/blocked CV); track MAPE/sMAPE/WAPE/MASE, bias, coverage.
  • Contribute to champion–challenger frameworks, model monitoring, and drift detection.
  • Apply model explainability (e.g., SHAP, permutation importance) and document assumptions/limitations.

Data and engineering excellence

  • Build reproducible pipelines in Python/R using version control (Git), environments, and CI where applicable.
  • Query and wrangle large datasets (SQL; Spark preferred); collaborate with data engineering on reliable data contracts.
  • Package models for deployment; contribute to MLOps (MLflow, Docker; orchestration/feature stores as available).

Business engagement and storytelling

  • Translate technical results into clear narratives and decision options for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Create dashboards/visuals (Tableau/Power BI/matplotlib/seaborn/Plotly) and concise write-ups for leadership.
  • Collaboration and ways of working
  • Work with the Forecasting Lead to align on scope, timelines, and standards; participate in code reviews and design discussions.
  • Maintain thorough documentation and contribute to internal best-practices templates and libraries.
  • Support mentoring of analysts/interns and help uplift team coding/testing norms.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Math, or related field. Experience: 3–5 years in data science/analytics with hands-on time-series or demand forecasting (healthcare/pharma preferred). Technical skills:
  • Python or R for modeling and data processing (pandas/NumPy/scikit-learn/statsmodels/Prophet/pmdarima; or R equivalents such as forecast/prophet/tidymodels).
  • SQL for data extraction and transformation; experience with large datasets and performance-aware queries.
  • Solid grasp of experimental design, statistical inference, and error/uncertainty quantification.
  • Visualization and communication skills for technical and executive audiences.
  • Professional skills: Strong problem solving, structured thinking, prioritization, stakeholder communication, and ownership.

Good to Have

  • Pharma/biopharma domain exposure: IQVIA/Symphony/claims/EHR/wholesaler data; launch forecasting; market access dynamics; tender markets.
  • Causal and promo modeling: Difference-in-differences, synthetic control, uplift/causal forests, MMM basics.
  • MLOps and production: MLflow, Airflow/Prefect, Docker; cloud (AWS/Azure); Spark/Databricks; Snowflake/Synapse.
  • App and reporting: Streamlit/Plotly Dash, Power BI/Tableau; API integration for forecast services.
  • Compliance and privacy: Understanding of GDPR/HIPAA; secure coding and PII/PHI handling.
  • Platform familiarity: Domino or similar enterprise data science platforms.
  • Contributions to standards: Code style, unit/integration tests, data validation (e.g., Great Expectations), documentation.

If you come across a role that intrigues you but doesn’t perfectly line up with your resume, we encourage you to apply anyway. You could be one step away from work that will transform your life and career.
