Freddie Mac is seeking a Software Engineer, Professional to drive technical delivery and engineering excellence for one or more agile delivery teams. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who partners with Product, Architecture, Platform/DevOps, and Security to deliver modern, secure, cloud-based solutions.
You will help teams deliver resilient and maintainable software by translating requirements into sound technical designs, implementing high-quality code, and ensuring solutions are observable and supportable in production.

Enterprise Business Technology Office (EBTO) supports multiple verticals by crafting and creating solutions to a variety of technology challenges. This support takes many forms, including delivering automation solutions by building and enhancing software applications using Business Process Management and Low Code Application Platforms required for Internal Audit, Legal and various other divisions at Freddie Mac.

Develop and Design scalable software solutions with a growing focus on cloud-native architectures, particularly on AWS and other major cloud platforms
Contribute to Engineering Excellence by adhering to and helping uphold high standards for code quality, testing, security, and performance
Embrace Innovation by staying current with emerging technologies and methodologies, and applying them where appropriate
Collaborate with Platform and Senior Engineering Teams to understand infrastructure decisions, tooling choices, and development workflows that optimize productivity and system efficiency
Participate in the Full SDLC from requirements gathering through deployment and monitoring, delivering robust and maintainable solutions
Technology Awareness — develop familiarity with a range of languages, frameworks, and tools, and contribute to technology selection discussions
Contribute to Technical Direction by sharing ideas and participating in architectural discussions and planning sessions
Typically 2-5 years of software engineering experience with a track record of delivering quality, production-grade software
College Degree or equivalent experience; work towards advanced studies/degree preferred.
Working knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native patterns, with a desire to deepen architectural expertise
Cloud familiarity, particularly with core AWS services (EC2, Lambda, ECS, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, CloudFormation/CDK, etc.)
Experience in testing strategies (unit, integration) and participation in code reviews
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and infrastructure as code
Experience collaborating with DevOps/Platform teams to deliver solutions that meet both developer and operational needs
Exposure to multiple programming paradigms (OOP, functional) with proficiency in at least one primary language
Experience across the stack — from backend services to data stores, with some frontend exposure
Solid foundation in computer science fundamentals, algorithms, and data structures
Security-aware with a basic understanding of secure coding practices and cloud security fundamentals
Clear communicator who can articulate technical concepts to peers and stakeholders
Team player with experience working in agile, cross-functional teams
Platform Engineering Understanding

Ability to identify inefficiencies in development workflows and contribute ideas for improvement
Exposure to multiple cloud platforms (Azure, GCP)
Contributions to open-source projects
Familiarity with AI/ML concepts or integration in software systems
Interest in emerging technologies (serverless architectures, edge computing, WebAssembly, etc.)
Curious and growth-oriented engineer who actively explores new technologies and approaches
Structured problem solver who can evaluate options and make sound decisions with guidance

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $103,000 - $155,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program.
