Job Description Summary:

This position supervises the activities in the swimming pools, spa and pool deck areas by enforcing all aquatics policies and procedures in order to prevent accidents and provide a safe environment for all participants.

Qualifications:

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of age required.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience working with children and youth preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

Job Specific Duties:

  • Provides for the safety of all Logan Health Medical Fitness Center (LHMFC) aquatic patrons.
  • Enforces all pool and pool area rules in accordance with established policies. Identifies rule violations and/or potential hazards and responds and/or advises leadership per department protocol. 
  • Maintains a watchful eye on the pool and pool users.  Scans the water and deck continuously for potential hazards and takes appropriate action per department protocol.
  • Performs life saving duties as trained and as required. Exhibits knowledge and understanding of the emergency action plan.
  • Provides exceptional customer service and exhibits honesty and respect while maintaining established standards for control.

Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.
