Job Description

Ultra PCS is undergoing a period of innovation and growth in the Military Land Vehicle sector (UK & RoW) having developed a number of unique product offerings for Vehicle Electronic Architectures. To support this growth we are looking for a new Business Development Manager to join our team.

The main purpose of the role will be to actively drive and execute the Sales & BD activity of the land systems product line, and to lead the pursuit of UK and International business development programmes from initial identification through bid to receipt of order.

A critical part of this role will be taking ownership of customer relationships to identify, shape and pursue new opportunities, as well as authoring capture strategies and customer proposals to meet the business unit’s growth targets.

Internally, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing business cases to support new opportunity development as well as briefing stakeholders on future pipeline, driving bid preparation and sign off prior to delivery to customers.

This is a customer-facing role where the successful candidate will work to understand customer and user needs, feed that information into the product development road map and lead bits to provide solutions to customer problems to ultimately place Ultra PCS in a winning position in this growing market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop and maintain key and critical customer relationships in relevant markets in line with strategic growth plan.
  • Maintain a contact plan for regular customer visits to understand customer problem statements and promote Ultra business.
  • Engage in trade shows, conferences and exhibitions to promote the business and secure leads for new business.
  • Identify potential sales opportunities for Ultra PCS Land Systems Products
  • Maintain capture and communication plans for all major opportunities.
  • Validate the wider business case for the product when assessing future opportunities.
  • Leading multi-disciplinary bid teams in the preparation and submission of high quality, business winning bids.
  • Contribute to the development of an annual orders forecast and be accountable for delivering orders aligned to it.
  • Contribute to the ten-year strategic plan bringing customer feedback and direction to underpin the strategy.
  • Influence Research & Development funding for the development of new products aligned to the strategic plan and capture plans.
  • Contributing to product development and the technical roadmap.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of industry, platforms and competitors.
  • Demonstrable experience in winning UK and international business.
  • Technical sales experience within Defence marketplace.
  • Ability to influence and guide internal and external subject matter experts to secure PCS win.
  • The ability to manage and focus a capture team brought together from a matrix organization to win large sub-system programs.
  • Energetic approach, willing to “think big” and target major system opportunities.
  • An Engineering background would be advantageous.
  • Previous military experience would be a benefit
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and presentational; and IT literate.

Security Clearance:

Candidates must be able to achieve an SC security clearance
