The “Research Experience For Teachers” is a U.S. National Science Foundation initiative which gives K-12 science teachers and Community College faculty the opportunity to engage in 5 weeks of cutting edge research in agricultural engineering, develop research-based classroom activities and participate in a range of workshops to improve their teaching pedagogy, communication skills and student engagement. Specifically, teachers will participate in two weekly seminars on engineering education best practices, and spend 3 days working on a research project. Teachers will participate in the U.S. NSF Engineering Research Center, Transformation of American Rubber through Domestic Innovation for Supply Security RET program.

a. Direct research from research designer to presentation of results: 70%

b. Pedagogy seminar and curricular development: 20%

c. Professional development programming: 10%
