As a Senior Risk Specialist, you will play a key role supporting the Enterprise Manual Process Initiative in support of Digital Transformation. You will provide advisory services to assess project delivery, process risks and internal controls. In this role, you will also participate actively in the initiative to identify opportunities to enhance client experience and improve operational efficiency while mitigating risk exposure.
What You Will Do
You should consider this opportunity if you are passionate about continuous improvement, technology, have demonstrated experience in risk management, and possess strong organizational and communication skills. In this role, your responsibilities will focus on several key areas:
Support the Enterprise Manual Process Initiative in identification and assessment of project implementation and delivery risks.
Actively participate in project meetings, ask questions, and independently challenge the status quo in a respectful manner.
Conduct risk assessments for high-risk processes or business functions within the Enterprise Manual Process Initiative.
Review new and/or changes to operational risks within processes, including risk and control documentation and adequacy assessment.
Identify areas for improvement and risk remediation. Provide value-add recommendations to stakeholders and build consensus to ensure effective implementation.
Ensure material residual risks are identified, action plans are defined, robust and tracked to completion.
Any issues identified during project participation or risk assessments are promptly escalated to the Manager, Risk Management, ensuring that timely and effective resolution is achieved through immediate attention and action.
Prepare effective communications and presentations for business stakeholders and senior management on assessment outcomes.
Maintain up-to-date progress reporting and ensure timely distribution to key stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making and accountability.
Engage proactively in post-implementation lessons learned sessions and continuous improvement discussions to drive actionable insights and foster a culture of ongoing risk management.
Training and Risk Culture
Promote robust risk management practices and principles through effective communication strategies, regular training sessions, and continuous engagement in the Enterprise Manual Process Initiative.
Ensure that all stakeholders receive comprehensive training on risk concepts, including risk identification, risk assessment, and action planning, to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively manage risks.
Foster awareness across the organization to ensure that all business units clearly understand their roles and responsibilities in risk management. This includes ensuring that risk management programs are thoroughly understood, properly implemented, and consistently followed.
Consistently advocate for strong risk culture and build trusted relationships with all stakeholders by providing valuable insights and maintaining open lines of communication.
What We Are Looking For:
Completion of a University degree or equivalent work experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the financial industry
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in risk management
Business Analysis, Business Project Management, Business Process Management education and/or related work experience an asset
ISACA certificates or equivalent knowledge an asset

Good communication skills, ability to engage with individuals at all levels
Capable of assimilating complex material, and to identify and discuss complicated concepts
Able to work on own initiative and develop practical solutions under pressure
Good knowledge of risk management processes and procedures
Knowledge of financial services products, processes, and industry is an asset
Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, and Excel); working knowledge of automation and/or emerging technologies
