Job Summary

Works directly with patients to provide PPM/ICD device analysis, detection of problems and initiation of interventions and continued follow-up under the direction of the physician and the Pacemaker Clinic RN. Employees will be involved in research protocols; specific guidelines will be reviewed for each protocol.

Essential Functions

  • Implements analysis and follow up for patients with device implants. Enters data into Pace Art and scans appropriate documents into medical record for physician interpretation.
  • Provides teaching, counseling and support to device implant patients and their families, Participates in ICD support group meetings.
  • Collects, organizes and documents all patient data for all regulatory agencies reporting requirements, pacemaker clinic charts, Paceart System and all Beaumont Health requirements.
  • Schedules regular follow up appointments for the clinic patients.
  • Continually updates self on new technology related to device implant analysis, monitoring and interventions.

Qualifications

  • Required The Pacemaker Technician needs to have a good background in cardiac care with respect to arrhythmia monitoring skills. The Pacemaker Technician must be able to interpret device analysis and notify the Pacemaker Clinic RN or the attending physician with any abnormality. Detailed knowledge of new technology in devices is required. Rapid developing technologies require continual updates to keep current on technical aspects of devices.
  • EKG interpretation experience required, NA, E/P Lab or Cath Lab experience. Preferred
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire required Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross required
