20What will you be responsible for?
Creating fun and exciting daily activity plans for up to 10 weeks of camp that uphold the principles of HIGH FIVE®
Understanding our standard operating procedures, reporting all accidents, incidents, concerns, or site damage to the Camp Coordinator, ensuring all appropriate forms are complete
Following all departmental safety standards and practices and Employee Code of Conduct
Supporting the Camp Coordinator by assisting with site-specific training for Camp Leaders and providing administrative support
Supervising and being visible in the camp setting – daily sign in/sign out, set–up/takedown, ensuring program supplies/equipment are set up and put away daily
Actively participating in camp with the daily delivery of programming, including staff break coverage
Providing support during our extended care periods (7:30-8:30am & 4:30-5:30pm) as required
Communicating with parents/guardians at sign in/out about the camper’s day; sharing reminders, successes and challenges
Providing effective leadership, mentorship, and supervision to Summer Camp Program Leaders, and assisting Camp Coordinator with performance evaluations as required
Scheduling weekly swim buddies, communicating with Aquatics Staff regarding swim programming, and being a swim buddy in the water during camp swims as required
Providing support to ICAN (Integrated Care for Assisted Needs) program and staff break coverage as required
Completing Quest 2 evaluations for required camp sites
Assisting the Behaviour Specialists with behaviour management tracking of camp participants
Performing all other duties as assigned
What will we need from you?
Ability to work a minimum of 9 weeks during July and August at approximately 40 hours per week, up to a maximum of 44 hours. Actual hours may vary depending on program registration
This position works full-day shifts, Monday to Friday, with standard hours of either 8:15am to 4:30pm or 8:30am to 4:45pm. Shift times may vary and can include extended care coverage, as outlined above
Participation in all scheduled paid camp training sessions held during the evenings and weekends in May and June is mandatory and a condition of employment
Attendance at all mandatory paid, bi-weekly staff meetings that occur outside of camp hours
What skills and experience are we looking for?
Enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution for upcoming Fall Semester; documentation/proof of registration as a full-time student must accompany the application
Minimum two (2) years’ experience working in a camp environment; supervisory and program planning experience preferred
Experience working with children with exceptionalities is considered an asset
Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification is required
HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) is required
Behaviour Management Systems Training (BMS) or equivalent is required
Access to transportation to travel between work locations in a timely manner is required, as successful candidate(s) may be required to travel between different camp sites
HIGH FIVE® Quest 2 is preferred

HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development and Behaviour Management Systems training is a requirement for this role. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to attend these certification courses as part of Summer Camp training.
