Your New Role…
As a key contributor to the Warner Bros. Discovery Revenue Accounting team, you will report to our Revenue Accounting Director supporting the revenue accounting function in WBD EMEA Networks.
The Revenue Accounting Team is responsible for all aspects of revenue accounting for the whole EMEA region including standard and non-standard deals at WBD. The goal is, acting as one team, to provide revenue accounting services in an effective, holistic and compliant way to meet the needs of our stakeholders including global WBD Management and external WBD stakeholders.
In this role, you need to have a strong understanding of IFRS and US GAAP and apply it consistently to assure correct revenue recognition. You will be responsible for End-to-End process covering contract interpretation and analysis, its implications, preparation and review of corresponding adjustments to assure accuracy in revenue recognition. You will be as well a key stakeholder, moving with speed and driving results, in documenting and improving processes to gain more controllership over designated areas of the business.
Your Role Accountabilities…
Manage and own assigned tasks and processes within revenue accounting area applying IFRS/US GAAP revenue recognition knowledge.
Review contracts, provide guidance and coordinate technical accounting research to determine proper revenue recognition in line with regulations and company policies.
Manage a team of several Senior Accountants / Accountants including their day-to-day activities, deliverables, holidays and career path.
Prepare/Review monthly revenue accrual calculations, entries to the general ledger and balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accuracy; adhere strictly to corporate reporting deadlines.
Drive and manage improvements and develop automation of daily/monthly standard tasks in revenue (accounting) processes and workflows.
Manage internal and external audit work (SOX testing, maintenance and updating of internal controls, Financial Compliance processes).
Prepare/Review periodical management reports, BS Flux and SEC schedules including applicable regular revenue-related analyses and metrics as well as ad hoc reporting.
Lead cross department meetings, document and track action items. Escalate issues as appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience…
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or finance and at least 5 years of accounting experience in international environment, preferably with focus on revenue recognition.
BIG4 experience as well as knowledge of media / entertainment industry are considered advantageous.
Understanding of IFRS and/or US GAAP with focus on understanding of IFRS and/or US GAAP for revenue recognition is a must. Practical end-to-end understanding of reporting impact of accounted transactions.
Very good written and spoken English is a must.
Proficient and experienced in MS Office applications, Excel in particular is a must.
Experience with enterprise information systems (SAP) a strong plus and preferred. PeopleSoft is an asset.
Strong problem-solving skills is a must.
Results oriented, strong attention to details, accuracy, timeliness, ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks as well as strong organizational skills is a must.
Presentation skills, status reporting, issue flagging, public speaking and exposition of prepared analysis and its implications. Ability to frame issues and articulate findings.
High integrity team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to work well with others and promote positive working relationships across the organization.
Previous managerial experience is an asset.
Proven ability to assess new challenges, identify areas for improvements, articulate action plans to management and follow through to implementation.
Motivated by challenging, high-energy, flexible environment. Ability to work under conditions of pressure and adjust to urgent and changing situations.
ACCA, CIMA or PIBR part-qualified (advanced) or completed qualification is considered as a strong advantage.
