Life Safety/Security Communications Specialist – JLL

What this job involves:

The Life Safety/Security Communications Specialist plays a critical role in protecting people and assets across JLL's global portfolio by serving as the front line of emergency response and security operations. Working in a fast-paced, multi-discipline operations center, you'll be the vital link between employees, facilities, and emergency services—receiving and dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls, monitoring access control systems, surveillance cameras, critical alarms, and fire safety systems across multiple sites. Your vigilance and quick decision-making directly support business continuity, crisis management, and the safety of thousands of personnel. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day while working with cutting-edge security technology and collaborating with global teams to respond to and mitigate critical incidents.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Monitor and operate integrated security systems including access control (C-Cure 9000), video surveillance (Milestone), fire alarm panels, and multi-site radio communications to maintain real-time situational awareness across facilities
  • Process and dispatch emergency calls for security, fire, medical, and hazardous materials incidents using Emergency Medical Dispatch protocols, provide pre-arrival instructions, and coordinate response with on-site teams and external emergency services
  • Serve as the primary liaison between JLL site personnel, corporate security, EHS teams, and local law enforcement/EMS agencies during incidents and emergencies, ensuring seamless communication and appropriate escalation
  • Create, monitor, and track work orders using Corrigo and other work request platforms while maintaining accurate incident documentation through CAD systems and completing detailed incident reports
  • Utilize the Critical Event Management platform to disseminate urgent notifications to stakeholders, account for personnel during major events, and coordinate fire system monitoring/impairment communications with third-party monitoring companies
  • Identify priority issues requiring immediate escalation, complete assigned callbacks, route calls to appropriate resources, and proactively suggest process improvements based on operational observations
  • Respond to access control alarms by assigning appropriate security resources to investigate and resolve issues while maintaining compliance with client-driven standards and protocols

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts on the Pittman schedule (2-2-3 rotation) including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime as an essential employee during site closures and emergencies
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of remaining calm and professional during high-stress emergency situations
  • Proven ability to multitask effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and dispatch operations
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain Public Safety Telecommunicator I certification and Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification as required for the role

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in criminal justice, emergency management, public safety, or related field
  • Two or more years of experience in security operations centers, law enforcement dispatch, emergency medical services, fire services, or military communications roles
  • Technical familiarity with C-Cure 9000 Access Control System, Milestone video management software, threat assessment platforms, emergency mass notification systems, or CISCO phone systems
  • Current CPR certification, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license, or Public Safety Telecommunicator certification
  • Prior experience using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems for incident tracking and reporting in security or emergency services environments
