Position: Registered Nurse, Substitute
Location: Elmhurst School - TBD
Per Diem | Hours Scheduled Based on Dept Needs
Hours: School assignments will be made by School Health Supervisor and scheduling will be coordinated according to needs for nursing coverage within department. This position requires flexibility of school assignment based upon departmental needs.
What you will do:
Provides direct professional nursing services, first aid, illness, and emergency care to students in response to the nursing assessment and in accordance with professional standards, school policy and procedures.
Maintain accurate health documentation accordingly with delivery of health services.
Maintains accurate documentation and medical records to assure compliance with state mandates including medical conditions, and the related responsibilities.
Administer medication according to written physician orders, with appropriate documentation.
Be knowledgeable of, write and implement the student healthcare plans to whom assignment is made ; knowledgeable of standard of care for special medical concerns, diabetes, asthma, severe allergies, etc.
Implements an effective system for follow-up on referral regarding concerns for student medical conditions to parents.
Develops and maintains communication with teachers, parents/guardians, other school personnel, outside healthcare providers, and PEL/Health Services Supervisor as needed to enhance action which will meet the health and safety needs of students.
Communicate student medical concerns information to appropriate school personnel.
Communicate to appropriate school personnel student specific information regarding medical regimens and/or medications.
Obtains and maintains access to all of the student's necessary medical supplies and medications for use during assignment.
Makes appropriate assessment and referrals for suspected abuse/neglect as a mandated reporter.
Maintain inventory of medical supplies, and order supplies through appropriate channels as needed.
Ensure all related materials for students' medical conditions are present for co-curricular activity or field trips.
Maintain current licensure, medical expertise and Healthcare provider CPR.
Maintain current knowledge of state compliance guidelines, incorporating changes as notified by IDPH.
Responsible for obtaining and maintaining students health records in compliance with IDPH and ISBE requirements and mandates.
What you will need:
License: Current Illinois Professional Registered Nurse Licensure
Certification: Current CPR certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
