Overview:

This position has accountability for relationships within the CRE Warehouse Finance segment including origination, structuring, negotiation, and servicing facilities of large dollar amount and high complexity.    

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Originate, underwrite, and obtain credit approval for facilities, adhering to bank policies and procedures.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to clients.
  • Perform financial analysis and due diligence on sponsors and assets to identify new lending opportunities and provide recommendations on viable deals.
  • Monitor and manage the performance of the portfolio to ensure asset quality, timely reporting of issues and challenges for internal and regulatory reporting.
  • Manage internal valuation of underlying CRE collateral assets of the facility for potential mark-to-market triggers and overall portfolio quality.
  • Negotiate with clients and work with credit to resolve issues that arise within the portfolio.   
  • Collaborate with other business lines to generate cross-sell revenue.
  • Work closely with finance, risk, legal, compliance, and operations to ensure seamless execution of transactions and adherence to bank policies.

Scope of Responsibilities:

Has management responsibility for relationships in the CRE Warehouse segment. The position requires extensive contact with external customers and internal credit, legal, finance, compliance, loan operations, and other commercial business lines. Involves hands on approach to origination and portfolio management.    

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics or related field or equivalent work experience  plus a minimum of 7 years commercial real estate lending experience.
  • Individual must be comfortable working in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment, with complex transactions, and be able to handle a high-level of responsibility.
  • Strong credit skills with knowledge of on and off-balance sheet lending.
  • Expertise in commercial real estate Warehouse, direct lending, capital markets, commercial and investment banking products.
  • Strong analytical skills, including ease with financial statements, legal documents, use of spreadsheets, graphing, presentations, and financial modeling.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of lender personnel, throughout the Commercial Bank, Investment Bank, and various Risk and Operations teams.
  • Some travel required.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Series 79, Series 63, and/or Series 7 licenses a plus.
  • CRE Warehouse experience

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $150,800.00 - $251,300.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
