As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll be doing hands-on coding and be responsible for shaping the technical evolution of this system by contributing to end-to-end design, implementation, and delivery across different projects. You'll utilise advanced knowledge of API design principles and best practices to achieve business outcomes, draw on core technology and domain knowledge to lead the design, enhancement and maintenance of a technology solution. You'll also be invited to join our regular engineering guilds to provide technical guidance and mentoring to our junior members of the team.

We’re interested in hearing from people who:

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality APIs that meet performance and scalability requirements. Including optimizing APIs for speed, efficiency and troubleshooting performance issues.

  • Have experience as an API Engineer or a similar role. Displaying in-depth knowledge of API design principles and best practices.

  • Are proficient with API security, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.

  • Can participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes.

  • Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills. With the ability to coach junior engineers, share knowledge to uplift and improve software development practices.

Tech Skills:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:

  • Development Methodologies: REST APIs; Micro services experience. Having a Kafka experience is advantageous.

  • Programming Languages: Java with good knowledge of OOPS concepts and design patterns. 

  • CI/CD: Any Git tool for source control. Build tools such as TeamCity or Jenkins and experience with deployment tooling like Octopus or similar. 

  • Databases: Either of the relational databases like MSSQL / Oracle. Experience with any No-SQL database such as MongoDB is good to have. 

  • Cloud: Hands on experience with AWS or Azure is advantageous.
