As an Equipment Engineer, you will ensure the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment by solving complex technical challenges, owning end-to-end equipment performances, and partnering across manufacturing, process engineering, maintenance, and supplier teams. As part of Micron’s AI-enabled ecosystem, Fab Equipment Engineers use AI-supported data, equipment health insights, and advanced analytics to improve tool performance, reliability, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement across semiconductor manufacturing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Own equipment performance and reliability by identifying issues, driving corrective actions, and lifecycle improvement strategies
Diagnose technical issues by applying structured problem-solving and enabling rapid tool recovery to prevent emerging issues
Drive equipment upgrade/modification projects, implement hardware solutions and partner with vendors to resolve issues
Partner and collaborate across functions (Process, Manufacturing, Facilities, Quality, Maintenance teams) to resolve issues
Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders
Create and maintain SOPs, troubleshooting guides, and drive knowledge sharing
Ensure compliance with safety, quality and manufacturing standards
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Shown through education, internships, research, military, manufacturing, or professional experience.
Bachelor’s degree or advanced certification in a related technical field OR equivalent technical military experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Willing and able to: stand and walk full shifts on uneven or tight floors, wear PPE and cleanroom garments, bend, kneel, and climb to reach tools, lift up to 40 lbs, work 12-hour shifts, including nights and weekends (24/7 fabs).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Shown through education, internships, research, military, manufacturing, or professional experience.
Technical troubleshooting & problem solving, root cause analysis, equipment/system diagnostics, analyzing and interpreting data
SPC principles, Continuous Improvement
Experience with mechanical, electrical, automation and manufacturing systems
Technical documentation and communication
Collaboration and teamwork across different functions
Effective communication with a customer and stakeholder focus
Takes ownership and initiative, adaptable to new environments
Attention to detail, analytical thinking
Preferred disciplines include Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience or exposure to one or more of:
Semiconductor manufacturing, High-volume manufacturing, Equipment maintenance & reliability, Robotics & automation, Vacuum systems, Industrial control systems, SPC, FDC, MES, Process improvement, Equipment qualification & validation
