This role is within the Finance Function, supporting the Investment Solutions (Individual Wealth) business unit, which offers Canadians a diverse lineup of mutual funds, portfolio solutions and guaranteed investments, empowering them to pursue their financial goals at every life stage. The Investment Solutions Controls team is responsible for maintaining a strong control environment for the Individual Wealth business. Reporting to the Manager, Wealth Financial Control, the Intermediate Financial Control Analyst will assist in ensuring the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of accounting transactions from the Individual Wealth administration systems through to the General Ledger. This includes cash controls monitoring, accounting reconciliation, and financial reporting related to the Individual Wealth business.
What will you do?
Ensure that accounting requirements are met on a weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly basis within required timelines
Provide support for relevant Canadian and/or Corporate projects and initiatives, including SAP Frontier and Operations enhancement projects
Process accounting for policy transactions and prepare journal entries
Prepare monthly account reconciliations
Manage processing of feeds to the general ledger
Provide audit support (regulatory, external, and internal) by providing requested documents and explanations
What do you need to succeed?
2 – 3 years of Accounting and Financial Reporting experience (reconciliation, audit, reporting etc.)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Actively pursuing or successfully completed a professional accounting designation
Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to effectively handle and prioritize multiple tasks or projects simultaneously in a fast -paced environment
High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Preferred Skills:
Experience or knowledge of Individual Wealth or the insurance industry
Experience working with large data sets focusing on summarizing, extracting, and reconciling data
Knowledge of and experience with Sun Life’s internal administration systems including Prism, Ingenium and LA
Experience with SAP ledger and Tableau
Adaptable, pro-active, and positive approach toward change

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
