  • Compensation – We support transparency, equity, and fairness in our compensation programs and provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range, based on data-driven market analysis, for each job posting. While it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range, a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role in Ashburn, VA is $192,900 - $302,400 per year. Team members may also be eligible for performance-based discretionary awards.

  • Hybrid work option – Staff will be assigned to the Ashburn, VA office. Staff can choose to live and work from anywhere within the United States but will be required to commute to their assigned office or location for occasional intentional gatherings or meetings at the frequency required by their supervisor. Travel to an assigned office or location for commuting purposes will not be considered reimbursable business travel, unless otherwise required by state law. Business travel is reimbursable in an amount not exceeding the cost to travel from the assigned office or location, unless otherwise required by state law.

Role Summary

The PCAOB has a full-time position for an Associate Director, Infrastructure and Operations in the Office of Technology based in the Ashburn, Virginia office. The Associate Director, Infrastructure and Operations is a key strategic leader responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the PCAOB’s IT infrastructure and operations. This includes managing all aspects of the on-premises and cloud-based systems, network infrastructure, end-user computing, and client operations. The ideal candidate will be a visionary and strategic thought leader, providing leadership and direction in setting the strategy and architecture related to Network, Systems, and Client Technology. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of success in managing and scaling IT infrastructure in a dynamic hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive IT infrastructure and operations strategy aligned with our business objectives and technology roadmaps to include a comprehensive cloud infrastructure and associated capabilities, Networking and Client Technology

  • Evaluate and implement new cloud technologies and solutions in support of the organization’s cloud strategy with a focus on reducing physical data center footprint

  • Provide oversight and leadership to increase utilization of hyper-converged infrastructure and the growing need to leverage virtualization and/or cloud services, where appropriate.

  • Provide leadership and promote automation for configuration and deployment of technology solutions

  • Responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and ongoing support of Microsoft 365 and Azure services line platforms.

  • Assist in facilitation of the Tier 3 production support, the IT Governance process, and the Enterprise Risk Management program for Disaster Recover matters (ensure high-availability and disaster recovery of critical data systems).

  • Develop and manage the infrastructure budget lifecycle, including the creation, monitoring, and adjusting to ensure alignment with business objectives.

  • Collaborate with peer technology managers and leaders to support problem management; taking problem manager role when there is an infrastructure service line outage or recurring issue

  • Continuous learning regarding AI and other emerging technology Trends, keeping abreast of latest capabilities and associated risks.

  • Partner with CISO to create, review, operationalize IT Cybersecurity policy and standards.

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of IT professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Performs the full range of supervisory duties, including evaluating employee performance; makes recommendations for appointment and promotion; hears and resolves complaints; identifies development and training needs of employees; other related supervisory tasks; and

  • Recruits, maintains, and develops staff consistent with business needs.

Qualifications

Education/Technical Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, engineering, computer science, mathematics, or related field or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 10+ years’ experience managing enterprise resources and activities for infrastructure engineering and operations; demonstrated technology management experience; experience directly supporting Microsoft Technology environments, Networking and client technologies.

  • Minimum of 5+ years Agile experience managing Scrum/Kanban teams and agile methodologies/ceremonies. Proven track record of building strong and effective relationships with senior stakeholders for budget/audit-based initiatives.

  • Proven record of strategic planning and functional transformation experience.

  • Experience working with distributed work teams to manage Azure, Microsoft 365 cloud, and other leading cloud platforms and cloud services.

  • In-depth experience successfully harmonizing diverse and competing interests.

  • A self-starter able to manage several open, ongoing assignments at any one time, where some assignments are routinely unstructured, requiring autonomy and independent judgment.

  • Ability to clearly articulate a position with sound logic, supporting empirical evidence, and impartiality.

  • Ability to effectively represent the organization to a variety of both internal and external constituencies.

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.

  • A self-starter able to administer a number of open, ongoing assignments at any one time, where some assignments are routinely unstructured, requiring autonomy and independent judgment.

  • In-depth experience successfully harmonizing diverse and competing interests.

  • Ability to clearly articulate a position with sound logic, supporting empirical evidence, and impartiality.

  • Ability to effectively represent the organization to a variety of both internal and external constituencies.

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in information technology, engineering, computer science, mathematics, or related field.
