We are seeking a talented leader to join the GPU Virtualization Team, which is responsible for integrating GPUs into the ESXi Operating System and providing acceleration to AI/ML and Graphics applications running inside the Virtual Machines. The GPU Virtualization Team is part of the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Division which enables readily deployable, easily managed solutions with GPUs to unleash the power of heterogeneous computing for modern applications.

Overview

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of System Software Engineers focused on GPU virtualization. This role involves collaborating with GPU vendors like Nvidia, AMD, and Intel to integrate their latest data center GPUs with our ESXi hypervisor, and providing advanced Compute and Management capabilities for Virtual Machines. You will oversee the GPU virtualization stack, working closely with the Kernel team, Hypervisor team, and VCenter UI team. This is a unique opportunity for driving innovation and shape the future of GPU virtualization in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment.

What you will be doing

• Ability to work across a larger organization to get agreement and drive the direction of the team
• Create detailed plans for delivery and work with the team to meet committed execution timelines
• Hire, train and supervise engineering staff members
• Actively contribute to setting strategic goals and provide insights to leadership on the latest trends in GPU Technology
• Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver high-quality products on schedule
• Design and document various processes to improve team efficiency
• Provide technical guidance and educate team members and coworkers on development and operations

What we need to see

• Work collaboratively within a team environment of other engineers to meet aggressive goals and high-quality standards
• Proficiency with complex software products.
• Organizational competencies and project management skills to keep projects, processes, and the entire engineering team on track
• Interpersonal communication skills with expertise in distilling complicated topics to a broader audience
• Candidates are required to hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with at least 10 years of related experience.

Ways to stand out from the crowd

• Knowledge of VMware's ESXi hypervisor and its kernel components
• Experience with GPU Technologies.
• Experience with Kernel Development and/or Graphics Drivers.
