TECHNICAL SUPPORT ENGINEER (Spain & Portugal)

We are seeking an experienced Technical Support Engineer to support the aftermarket business across Spain and Portugal. This role is responsible for providing advanced technical support to customers and internal stakeholders, ensuring high levels of service quality, equipment reliability, and customer satisfaction. The position plays a key role in troubleshooting complex technical issues, delivering product expertise, supporting aftermarket sales activities, identifying improvement opportunities, and collaborating closely with customers, service teams, and cross-functional departments to drive operational excellence and business growth.

The position reports to the Aftermarket Sales Director, Sandvik Mining, Spain & Portugal.

Profile Required

Position Purpose

To support the technical organization in the diagnosis, follow-up, and resolution of machine-related issues, collaborate in warranty management activities, and act as a technical liaison between customers, distributors, and the factory. The role is designed to progressively develop into a position with broader technical responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Support

  • Analyze basic technical issues and perform initial diagnostics.
  • Provide technical support to the aftermarket team and customers under supervision.
  • Participate in customer site visits for learning purposes and field support.

2. Warranty Management

  • Support the collection of technical information required for warranty claims.
  • Participate in the initial analysis of failures and machine breakdowns.
  • Prepare documentation for coordination with the factory.

3. Factory and Distributor Relations

  • Support technical communication with factory functions (Engineering, Product Support, etc.).
  • Assist in providing feedback regarding recurring issues, machine performance, and product improvement opportunities.
  • Support technical interactions with the distributor in Portugal.

4. Training and Technical Knowledge Development

  • Review technical documentation, manuals, and internal procedures.
  • Participate in internal and external training programs.
  • Contribute to the development of internal technical documentation.

Qualifications

Education

  • Degree in Mechanical, Mining, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Additional training in mining/construction equipment, hydraulics, electrical systems, or maintenance would be considered an advantage.

Languages

  • English: mandatory.
  • Portuguese: desirable.
