Northrop Grumman is looking for a Principal or Senior Principal Financial Analyst on our Benefits Reporting Team. This position will work directly with and report to the corporate manager of Benefits Reporting in our Corporate office, Falls Church, Virginia.

The Benefits Reporting group is responsible for leading the company’s benefit plan financial reporting process including the preparation of Northrop Grumman's 11-K savings plan filings for submission to the SEC as well as our various pension and health and welfare plan filings with the DOL.

This role requires coordination with multiple stakeholders, strong analytical and communication skills, and a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of tools. We are looking for an individual that is proactive and can provide process improvements to maximize efficiencies in financial reporting.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare financial statements for various Savings, Pension, and Health and Welfare plans
  • Prepare trial balances and footnote support
  • Perform analytical reviews of benefit plan’s financial statements
  • Compile data to support the preparation of the Form 5500s
  • Provide audit support and fulfill audit requests
  • Participate in internal and external kick-off meetings and status meetings
  • Reconcile general ledger data to trust reports to help maintain the validity, completeness, and accuracy of the data
  • Provide support and analysis for overhead claims submission
  • Perform trust related accounting functions as needed
  • Support trust budget preparation and perform budget analysis
  • Complete ad hoc projects or data requests

This position can be filled based on the qualifications below:

Basic Qualifications - Principal Financial Analyst

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 6 years of relevant work experience

Basic Qualifications - Senior Principal Financial Analyst

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 10 years of relevant work experience

In meeting the experience requirements above:

  • Master’s degree or CPA may count for 2 years of experience
  • Master’s degree and CPA may count for a total of 3 years of experience
  • Public accounting experience may count for up to an additional year of experience for each year of relevant experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent public accounting firm audit experience
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Knowledge of SAP accounting system of record
  • Knowledge of Workiva financial reporting system

Salary Range: $88,700.00 - $133,100.00Salary Range 2: $109,900.00 - $164,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
