Job Summary

Telstra is looking for a Network Engineer – Voice & Mobility to join Telstra’s International Networks team at a pivotal moment. This role plays a critical part in strengthening and evolving the platforms that power international voice, roaming, mobility and IP connectivity in and out of Australia.

Job Description

Based in Sydney, you’ll work hands‑on with Telstra’s international Core Voice, IPX and mobility/roaming networks, helping uplift resilience, close capability gaps and ensure our core programs of work are sustainable for the long term. Your contribution will directly support services used by customers and partners around the world - today and into the future.

What we offer

  • Performance-related pay

  • 16 weeks of parental leave, for primary and secondary carers

  • Access to thousands of learning programs so you can level-up

  • Purchased annual leave scheme

  • Additional Telstra day off to spend as you like

  • Additional 30% off Telstra products and services

  • Toolkit provided (laptop + mobile phone + plan paid for)

You’ll be part of a flat, collaborative team that values curiosity, knowledge‑sharing and thoughtful engineering. You’ll be supported and mentored, with genuine scope to deepen your expertise across voice, signalling and mobility domains, and grow your career in a way that works for you.

What you’ll do

  • Design, build and support international Voice, IPX and mobility platforms that underpin Telstra’s global services

  • Improve resilience, security and reliability through performance monitoring, audits and continuous improvement

  • Own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of voice platforms, keeping hardware and software current and fit for purpose

  • Deliver engineering projects across international networks, balancing quality, cost and timelines

  • Produce and review high‑level designs, test plans and technical documentation, coordinating testing and deployments with partners and vendors

  • Build scalable, future‑ready platforms, staying current in virtualisation, IPX and next‑gen voice technologies

About you

You don’t need to tick every box — we’re keen to hear from people who are excited by this space and keen to grow.

  • Sydney‑based with unrestricted Australian working rights

  • Able to work from the Parramatta site on Mondays and Thursdays, with ad‑hoc customer site visits as required

  • Ideally around 4–8 years’ experience working with Voice Networks across international voice (wholesale or enterprise), IPX or mobility/roaming

  • Experience contributing to medium‑scale engineering projects, potentially as a technical lead in selected domains

  • Working knowledge of NGN technologies, including:

    • Session Border Controllers

    • SIP Proxies

    • Softswitches

    • Signalling Gateways

    • Diameter Routing Agents

    • Centralised Routing Engines

Please apply with an up to date CV for immediate consideration.
