About you and this role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Global Immigration Specialist located in one of the following locations: Midland, (MI, USA), Mumbai (IND), Houston (TX, USA), Sao Paulo (BRA), Shanghai (CHN), Terneuzen (NLD).

In this role, you will enable a best-in-class employee experience through exceptional relocation and immigration subject matter expertise, consultation, and service delivery in partnership with external vendors. This role is an escalation point to provide specialist expertise to triage and resolve cases within the tiered service delivery model. This requires working knowledge and experience in the discipline with a moderate level of guidance and direction. You will actively support and often lead process optimization and improvement efforts while partnering with the Talent Mobility & Relocation Governance Team on metrics, design of new programs, policies, and procedures to ensure effective implementation and delivery.  You will leverage end-to-end process documentation, procedures, work instructions, vendors, Knowledge Base and Case Management content to resolve inquiries and deliver against relocation programs influencing change to those processes where needed.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee delivery of immigration services for duration of international relocations, serving as the SME for related moves in support of HR Partners, People Leaders, Assignees, and various HR Solutions disciplines engaged in E2E relocation processes.
  • Serve as lead specialist with autonomy to administer immigration services within global framework provided by the Global Relocation Leader and enable two-way dialog with vendors and other regional team members to drive best-in-class service and Employee Experience.
  • Evaluate exceptions to policy and/or process using technical experience, judgment and precedents.
  • Partner with vendors to discuss current/upcoming cases, and ensure global processes and programs are consistently applied.
  • Work with Global Relocation team to identify, prioritize and drive project implementation, supporting and/or leading sub-tracks of global and regional process improvements.
  • Provide expertise, consultation, and escalation management for HR Partners/Leaders for domestic and international relocations.
  • Act as the primary focal point for relocation for turnaround resource management.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or at least 8 years of relevant working experience or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience.
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard working hours to partner with colleagues and vendors in several time zones.
  • For US Applicants: A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills

  • A degree discipline in Human Resources, Legal, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
  • Prior experience in Immigration.
  • Prior experience with ServiceNow or related case management systems.
  • Prior experience with Workday.
  • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English (written and verbal).
  • Critical problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability utilizing a variety of technology to support inquiry resolution (i.e., Case Management and Knowledge Base systems).
  • Understands, can interpret, and is able to follow process flows, work instructions, job aids, etc.
  • Sensitive to cultural differences.
  • Highly skilled in effectively interacting with and supporting all levels of employees.
  • Able to operate effectively and proactively with an employee-centric mindset.
  • Able to use appropriate judgment in escalation or when to involve other resources in decision making or processing.
  • Resiliency in ever-changing working environment, ability to be flexible and adjust work to meet specific demands.
  • Strong collaboration skills.
