Summary :

The CT Technologist performs diagnostic CT (computed tomography) scans including interventional radiology procedures on patients. Evaluates image quality and utilizes proper radiation safety practices.

Job Description:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Provides professional, empathetic, and compassionate care to team members, patients, families, and significant others. Greets patients and their families, assists patients with dressing/undressing, transports or ambulates patients, and assists patients with comfort needs. 2. Demonstrates working knowledge of equipment and safety practices in the areas of CT department, interventional radiology, emergency department, inpatient, and outpatient services. 3. Exhibits competency and skills needed to perform CT scans including interventional radiology and cardiology procedures per protocol, and sets appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology. 4. Completes department tasks such as stocking supplies, checking outdated supplies, performing safety audits or tracking, and cleaning rooms and equipment to remain compliant with requirements, regulations, and policies. 5. Provides practical instruction for students and other health care professionals. 6. Shows competency in intravenous access and administration of contrast in accordance with established protocols while using aseptic technique. 7. Completes documentation on time and accurately in accordance with department policy/procedure. This includes proper image management and accurate documentation in electronic medical record. 8. Applies critical thinking skills and ensures order accuracy when triaging and prioritizing patients. Practices safety at all times, which includes adhering to ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principles for proper radiation safety for self and patients, using mobilization and immobilization devices, following safe patient handling practices, following infection prevention practices (proper personal protective equipment), and following hand hygiene to comply with all government agencies or other regulatory bodies. QUALIFICATIONS: • High school diploma or GED • Graduate of an accredited radiography program • American Registry Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) • Wisconsin license PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance • Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties WORK ENVIRONMENT: • Normally works in climate controlled office environment • Frequent sitting with movement throughout office space • Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. • Occasional high noise level in work environment. • Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents. • Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients. • Use of computers throughout the work day • Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers

Schedule: Fri 8pm-7am, Sat 7pm-7am, Sun 7pm-6am; no call; Holiday rotation included
