S&P Global Market Intelligence is growing its Media & Communications research team and is seeking a mobile industry authority to support our global mobile coverage. Our product is the ultimate resource for complete financial intelligence on the broad and dynamic media and communications sector, including broadcast, cable, IP, mobile and wireless television and video distribution as well as broadband telecoms and online media services. This role requires the capability to understand media company financials, synthesize fast-changing dynamics, anticipate market movement from current and past trends, and draw actionable conclusions and market intelligence.
Impact
As a Research Analyst, you will have the opportunity to drive our mobile coverage with a focus on Asia’s Mobile Network Operators – operational, financial, and infrastructure data (towers, spectrum) - in addition to covering mobile value-added services such as video. Day-to-day, you will use your attention to detail and analytical skills to collect relevant data from company-filed reports, interviews, and industry conferences using that data to build market models and industry growth forecasts. You will also create data-driven articles and reports that make us the best-in-class source of business intelligence in the media and communications industry.
Responsibilities:
Conduct in-depth research, financial and strategic analysis on the mobile industry within the Asia Pacific region, and write articles related to the sector.
Create proprietary datasets not available anywhere else and suggest new research areas.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives.
Present findings to clients, internal teams, and industry leaders at conferences and webinars.
Contribute press citations and quotes.
What We’re Looking For
The applicant should have a strong analytical background and excellent writing and quantitative analysis skills. Experience analyzing the Media industry or Wireless industry is strongly preferred.
Basic Required Qualifications
A degree in Economics, Finance, or Accounting (or equivalent education and experience).
Strong proficiency in MS Excel and experience in developing data models or forecasts.
One to three years of experience in a research or analytical role.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present research and analysis.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Experience working as an Analyst in media research or across the wireless communications industry.
Good attention to detail, strong collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to create and maintain a database of information.
