Summary

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for Lead Housekeeping at the Shreveport Convention Center/Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana.   Under the direction of the Housekeeping Manager and the Director of Operations this team member's primary responsibilities include the following functions in accordance with ASM policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains records, logbooks, sign in/sign out sheets, accident reports, etc.
  • Attend briefings to receive all pertinent information regarding events.
  • Assist in signing in and out 3rd party housekeeping.
  • Assist in assigning positions and breaks at the start of each shift/
  • Notifying Housekeeping Manager of any immediate staffing concerns
  • Assigns work areas to be cleaned and oversees the cleaning.
  • Inspects work areas after cleaning to ensure cleanliness meets SCC standards.
  • Assist housekeeping tasks, including shampooing of carpets, mopping, and waxing of floors, sweeping, trash/debris removal, etc.
  • Conducts on-the-job training for new employees on equipment, SCC cleaning methods, and safety measures.
  • Monitors supplies and assists Housekeeping Manager when re-ordering is needed.
  • Controls housekeeping equipment by maintaining accurate logs and check out sheets.
  • Responds to emergency housekeeping calls to insure they are properly completed.
  • Prepare and inspect the facility before and after each shift- making sure all equipment is returned to where it is belongs, closets are clean and stocked, lights turned off, carts are stocked, cleaned, and all machines (vacuums, walk-behinds, and riding scrubber) are ready for the next events.
  • Conducts inspections of facility and informs Housekeeping Manager of special cleaning projects needed.
  • Maintains open communication regarding safety and hazards concerns with the Manager and housekeepers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities    

Oversees Housekeeping crew. Responsibilities assigning and directing work; works with Housekeeping Manager regarding complaints and to resolve problems in compliance with Human Resources Policies and Procedures.

Education and/or Experience        

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Previous experience in similar functions desirable.

  • Ability to work irregular hours, shifts that include nights, graveyard shift, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to use small/medium size powered cleaning equipment (vacuums, blowers, window washing equipment etc.)
  • Ability to listen and follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand GHS CHEMICAL SAFETY PROGRAM & SDS sheets to use required chemicals in a safe and proper manner Capable of working safely from ladders and small lifts if/as needed to complete assigned tasks.
  • Ability to understand & complete OSHA BBP Training requirement & follow the process when required in cleaning up certain spills etc. Qualified to operate various types of large, powered cleaning equipment is a plus (floor scrubber, buffers, sweepers & carpet extraction units) or be capable of completing required training to operate such equipment.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to be walking, standing, turning, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, crawl, reaching, pushing, and pulling requiring a full range of body movements and lift or move up to 50 lbs.   The position also requires climbing and descending steps/stairways with needed equipment to complete cleaning tasks assigned.  Frequently works at a fast pace for extended periods of time. Requires normal vision and hand-eye coordination in the frequent use of common hand tools. Frequent exposure to dusty, dirty, and unsanitary objects and conditions. Frequent exposure to cleaning fluids and other materials. Occasional exposure to toxic materials, cleaning tools, and equipment that could cause personal harm to injury, if improperly handled. These tasks may be performed in adverse conditions at times (loud noise, dust, inclement weather and moving vehicles may be present). Some shift, weekend and holiday work required. Requires radio usage of a two-way hand-held radio.
