GSK R&D and Digital & Tech’s collective goal is to deliver GSK impact, including the acceleration the discovery and development of medicines and vaccines to patients.  R&D Digital & Tech are the key Tech partner to support the R&D Ambition of bringing more medicines and vaccines to patients and support our scientists by supercharging R&D with Data. The Quality Engineering and Labs (QEL) function is a pivotal function for this, as it looks after the ~500 systems that support the end-to-end R&D process and all of the systems that sit within the Laboratories. There are 17 sites, with around 7,000 scientist that work within the Labs in GSK, so it is a complex environment with a number of legacy systems and software, end to end across the whole of R&D.

The Senior Product Owner – Low Code is a key role in driving adoption, capability and governance in the use of Low Code Application Platforms (LCAPs) to help R&D achieve their Digital & Tech goals faster. Our LCAP ecosystem is already helping Tech deliver high-quality applications with a focus on better experiences, quality engineering and design consistency, through three key capabilities: the core platform, an application development team and a business-owned development framework. This role will continue to drive adoption and maturity of our ecosystem while extending to cover new use cases, including the development of new building blocks to allow R&D business users to build their own data-driven applications.


In this role you will  

  • Manage the Technical Service: Ensure any changes are delivered in accordance to agreed service levels and directly manage Level 2/3 issues and escalations. You’ll also be accountable for Lifecycle Management within the product space.
  • Manage Demand: Collaborate with Tech and business stakeholders to manage and prioritize the product backlog to produce the product set with the highest business value.
  • Deliver a Product Roadmap for Low Code: Increasing the capabilities, adoption and governance controls of the Low Code ecosystem, including best practices and reusability across the core platform, the application development team and in the future a business-owned development framework.
  • Manage a matrixed team: Work in collaboration with broader teams to drive and deliver business value to tight timelines and managed budgets, adhering to our release management calendar.
  • Ensure Quality, Risk & Compliance: Be accountable for ensuring all capabilities within the product domain are compliant with internal security, change management and risk management policies and practices, as well as external regulatory and statutory requirements (e.g. GxP) and that Tech continuity plans are in place for all critical areas.
  • Define Product Features: Translate Tech and R&D demand, competitive activities, and industry trends into value drivers of new technology solutions and product requirements that can be easily understood by product teams, developers and other key constituencies within the organization.
  • Manage day-to-day operations: Help manage resourcing and financial tasks relating to the efficient running of a cross-business capability
     

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree - Technical Degree e.g. Engineering, Information Technology
  • Practical experience in Agile product delivery, backlog prioritisation, stakeholder management and Scrum/Kanban delivery
  • Strong experience in the field of software delivery, design and/or support, through the tracking and management of finite resources (financial, technical, analytical)
  • Strong analytical and observational skills with a demonstration of creative approaches to problem solving
  • Knowledge of the software design and delivery process (both analytical and technical) and the need for strong documentation and governance practices
  • Team player with exceptional collaboration and communication skills, where you thrive in collaboration, storytelling and solving problems together
  • Awareness and willingness to roll up your sleeves with a desire to learn new things and jump into the unknown
  • Natural curiosity and motivation to dig into the details in order to understand and improve upon a technical, complex, and constantly evolving problem space
  • Fluency in English (written and oral)
