The Machine Set up Operator 2 is a highly skilled role responsible for advanced machine setup, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance across a wide range of automated and manual production equipment. This position is expected to lead by example in safety, quality, and productivity standards. The Machine Set Up Operator 2 will oversee complex equipment operations, provide mentorship to junior operators, support safety and lean manufacturing initiatives, and ensure accurate reporting of production metrics, delays, and scrap.
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Perform advanced setup, calibration, and operation of multiple machines simultaneously.
  • Serve as a technical resource and assist with the training of junior machine operators.
  • Execute complex troubleshooting and diagnostics across various mechanical and automated systems.
  • Monitor and maintain production machinery, taking corrective action in the event of malfunction or failure.
  • Ensure product quality by inspecting raw materials and finished goods against established standards.
  • Load and unload materials using hoists, forklifts, and conveyors as needed.
  • Adjust machine settings and change parameters using intermediate and advanced hand tools.
  • Record and maintain accurate production data, including outputs, delays, downtime, and scrap.
  • Support the implementation of plant-wide safety programs and corrective actions.
  • Perform in-depth quality checks and segregate non-conforming products.
  • Maintain cleanliness of machines, tools, and work areas in accordance with 5S practices.
  • Collaborate with leadership on continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and actively promote a safe working environment.
  • Assist other departments as needed and adapt to shifting production priorities.
  • Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and readiness at the beginning of each shift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3–5 years of machine operation experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to operate and troubleshoot a variety of production machines, including metal stamping and custom metal fabrication equipment.
    • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with automated equipment required.
  • Language: Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Certifications: Forklift certification (or ability to obtain) preferred.
