Position Overview
We have 2 x opportunities in the Market Access Team for Germany Switzerland Austria

National Access Managers (NAMs) are part of a team responsible for the in-country execution of the market access plan for current and new products. The objective of the role is to ensure that HCPs and people with diabetes have unimpeded access to Insulet’s products. This is achieved by working pro-actively with payers and access stakeholders, by influencing policy decisions through localized value communication and by building a positive access environment centred around partnership

The NAM is expected to develop and execute access plans for a designated Health insurance group.  These will be carried forward in collaboration with other field-based personnel and align with the short and long term goals of the organization. In addition to their geographic responsibilities, NAMs are part of a market access team covering Germany, Austria and Switzerland. As such, they are expected to contribute to the broader advance of market access strategies and capabilities across the region.  The successful candidate will be joining a growing team with ambitions to extend its impact and value, corresponding to the advance of Omnipod as one of the world’s leading diabetes technologies.

The role reports to the Head of Market Access for the GSA region.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the role may be thought of in three parts:

    (i) Access within Health Insurance Group

Within a particular health insurance group NAMs are responsible for ensuring that funding and access channels to Omnipod products are opened up and/or remain open and that there are no payer or system restrictions preventing availability of the technology in line with national policy and the choices of people with diabetes and their physicians. This will be achieved by developing relationships across the payer and advocacy landscapes and by providing and acting on current and insightful market intelligence. NAMs also provide in-account support to the sales managers and their teams on access-related issues as well as information critical to accomplishing the Insulet mission to all colleagues, including the marketing and sales leadership team.

The NAM will also explore and execute strategies in key accounts that create enhanced access for Omnipod technology, commensurate with its value and market leading potential. Working with other parts of the organization, the role is vital in building partnerships with the Health insurances that advance access on the basis of the value of both Insulet’s products and its service, education, training and other support offerings.

 (ii) Market Access Strategy

As members of the GSA market access team (which is in turn part of an international team), the NAMs both deliver strategic insight to aid good decision-making and help co-create and shape strategies that advance the market access potential of both Insulet and Omnipod.  Such strategies will both respond to challenges in the access environment and identify and project onto opportunities to improve that environment.  Such strategies will also align with the future development of Insulet’s product portfolio and reach.

NAMs also contribute to a multi-stakeholder engagement plan for delivery at GSA level. This includes stakeholders that have a national influence on reimbursement and policy such as KOLs, procurement, pharmacy and patient advocacy leads.

(iii) Team Development and Capabilities

NAMs strive for excellence in all aspects of performance and are committed to continuous self-evaluation and development. By being part of the team, they also

contribute to the development of capabilities within the GSA market access function. Insulet recognises that not every candidate will possess strength in every capability, but the successful candidate is likely to be able to demonstrate both aptitude and achievement in at least some of the following:

  •   Facility with data, data analysis and data-based tools, as well as
curiosity to explore the avenues of data-based access approaches
  •   Interest in the future evolution of data-based access, for example using
      artificial intelligence
  •   Creation of strong market access narratives (qualitative and quantitative)
and how they are communicated through compelling materials and tools
  •   Innovative payer and stakeholder engagement, including partnering
with GKV-SV, HBHI CC and other access facilitating bodies
  •   Training and development in customer-facing skills, for example selling,
negotiation and ability to function as a trusted business adviser
  •   Policy and policy analysis and its relevance to market access goals and
      strategies
  •   Landscape and stakeholder mapping, research and analysis
  •   Networking and network development

Insulet is a growing company where capabilities are not assumed to be procured from other departments. Market access is a networked and collaborative discipline, while at the same time our skills and capabilities are home-grown, honed and extended.  Each member of the team brings their own skills and capabilities to the effort, and thereby contributes to the broader enrichment of our capacity to excel.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong and evolving knowledge of the policy, access and GKV (Germany) or SV (Austrian) landscape

  • Strong therapy area and product knowledge, with commitment to continuous learning

  • Familiarity and experience with using health economics based arguments and tools (eg budget impact models)

  • Able to take large amounts of complex information and establish what is important.

  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and to influence without authority, as well as to operate independently and with initiative

  • Ability to prioritise and drive for results with emphasis on quality

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate both externally and internally at multiple levels of the organisation

  • Proficient German skills and fluent English skills, both written and spoken.

  • Strong organisational and project management skills and ability to generate and maintain accurate records

  • Self motivated, ambitious and positive

  • Strong computer proficiency and experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Advanced IT skills would be a bonus.

  • Previous experience working in diabetes and/or medical technology, specifically in the medical aid sector is desirable, but not essential in candidates who can demonstrate strong overall capabilities in line with areas of focus set out above

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (eg biochemistry, pharmacology, health economics) and the equivalent of a minimum of five years’ experience in pharmaceutical and/or medical device sales or market access)
  • Proven business experience working within market access across the payer and payer influencer stakeholder group

  • Proven reimbursement success for new products and line extensions

  • Experience working within and developing different distribution channels advantageous

Physical Requirements

This is a field-based role. The successful candidate will need to travel frequently throughout it. Occasional travel to Insulet’s Germany head office in Munich will be necessary.
