C.H Robinson is seeking a Senior Data Engineer within Data Management and Analytics team where you will use your experience to design, develop, test, and maintain data pipelines that are accessible, trusted, scalable, and cost efficient.  You will work closely with Analysts, Engineering Product Managers, Data Engineers, Architects, and business stakeholders to define requirements, design solutions, estimate, and implement solutions using modern technologies. Duties &Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of this position consists of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Promote and encourage an environment of innovation and entrepreneurial mindset 
  • Analyze and translate high-level customer requirements into detailed designs to solve complex business problems  
  • Collaborate with a broad range of teammates and stakeholders to deliver products as agreed upon  
  • Design, develop and maintain data pipelines that are available, scalable, trusted, compliant, cost efficient, and performant  
  • Mentor and coach analysts and engineers through design and code reviews and by modeling and sharing best practices; proactively seek mentorship from others 
  • Guide, mentor, influence, and adopt a cloud-first modern data architectural direction, and consistently adopt the associated standards and best practices  
  • Maintain positive, productive relationships  
  • Develop and maintain thorough technical documentation for the product or service   

Required Qualifications: 

  • 7+ years of experience with database objects in relational databases (ex. Snowflake, PostgresSQL, MS SQL, Oracle) including schema design, stored procedure development and performance and optimization techniques 
  • Experience designing and implementing complex data acquisition, data curation, and data analysis projects including analyzing, defining data models, establishing, and documenting best practices, standards, and governance 
  • Experience creating, loading, and transforming data store leveraging ETL/ELT on cloud native platform with cloud data warehousing technology  
  • Experience translating business requirements, communicating technical and business concepts, and participating in code reviews 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IS, MIS, or other technology degree; or minimum 4 years of equivalent work experience and high school diploma/GED 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience creating applications and features in an object-oriented environment (ex. Python, C#, .NET, Java, JavaScript) 
  • Experience with version control systems (ex. GIT, GitHub, TFS, etc.) 
  • Experience with streaming data platforms (Kafka preferred) 
  • Experience developing and deploying applications on Kubernetes  
  • Experience with non-relational databases (ex. MongoDB, Elastic) 
  • Experience working with workflow orchestration or DAG tools (Airflow preferred) 
  • Experience with transportation, logistics, or business systems
