Who will you be working with?

A Division of Wabtec UK Ltd, Northampton-based firm Bearward Engineering manufactures radiators for the power generation industry and is currently recruiting for a Welding Engineer.

Role: Welding Coordinator/Engineer

Salary: £Competitive

Location: Northampton, (NN4 8HJ)

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 08:00am to 16:30pm, and Friday 08:00am to 15:30pm

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

How will you make a difference?

Supporting the Quality, Manufacturing, and Design departments you will work with the onsite Welding team on drawing issues, weld instructions, and future design improvements.

What will your typical day look like?

• Evidencing the governance of our welding practices.
• Ensuring the drawings and designs are of a manufacturable state and can be interpreted.
• Supporting staff with their training requirements to meet the required standards.
• Carry out internal auditing of welding equipment and storage of consumables.
• Evaluate the quality of products as they leave welding bays.
• Ensure the weld jigs and fixtures are fit for purpose.
• Monitor staff’s competency and training matrices against the required standards, organise testing, and oversee sample analysis.
• Develop and qualify new welding processes or procedures.

What do we want to know about you?

• Have, or have the ability, to acquire a TWI CSWIP or AWS CWI certification within 12 months of employment.
• Experience with welding processes. GMAW, GTAW and brazing.
• Experience with Welding Code/Standards
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, schematics, and weld symbols.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
