The Palletizer reports directly to the Packaging Foreman and is responsible for preparing the distribution of the finished products by ensuring the case count is accurate, monitor/ dislodging jams on transfer conveyors from packing to ambinet dock area. Palletizer removes complete cases of bakery products from the slide conveyors, stacks the cases onto pallets, wraps with plastic to secure load before shipping and distribution. Enter cases into inventory by printing and affix Handling Unit labels to pallets as they are built. Supports packaging operations by staging packing material line side. Report any unsafe conditions and quality discrepancies to foreman and/or supervisor.


 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Stack product cases on pallet
  • Verify the proper carton weight (by feel) to ensure that the case count is correct, prior to palletizing the case
  • Perform product inspection such as but not limited to looking for damage or conformity to specifications of case
  • Move empty pallets with the help of another person or pallet jack, when needed
  • Secure completed pallets by shrink wrapping the pallet
  • After verifying the pallet case count, print the Handling Unit label with the RF gun and place on the bottom portion of the pallet
  • Record the number of pallets produced on the Case Count sheet
  • Record the number of employee sale cases on the Case Count sheet
  • Performs tasks within the manufacturing area such as staging packing material line side and individual training
  • Monitor the tape on the top and bottom of the case to ensure all flaps have been sealed properly with tape in the middle
  • Monitor the case to ensure the bar code and lot number are printed correctly and verified against the current process order form
  • Check and remove damaged cases from the line
  • Direct the employment of packaging helpers that are assigned to assist palletizing operations
  • Report all equipment problems to a Foreman or Supervisor immediately
  • Report all inventory discrepancies to the foreman.
  • Help in training new employees or employees who change job classifications
  • Responsible for reporting and taking any appropriate action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurring such as, but not limited to contamination
  • Maintain a high level of sanitation and GMP's by ensuring that work areas are clean and that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) are fully complied with by sweeping and wiping down equipment
  • Performs other duties in packaging as necessary
  • Responsible for the Quality and Food Safety functions within designated department and as assigned by management and the Quality Department
  • Promote safety in the work area by understanding and complying with safety procedures and reporting all accidents in a timely manner regardless of the severity

QUALIFICATIONS:


To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. This individual must be Safety conscience.   • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English for the purpose of interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedute manuals and quality assurance correspondence.
  • Have basic math skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, anticipate and correct problems associated with plant operations.
  • Computer literacy, SAP and RFGen.
  • Ability to perform duties independently, with little to no supervision, as required.
  • Forklift/ electric pallet jack/manlift certified is a must.
  • Ability to work safely and comply with all safety regulations.
  • Ability to operate various manufacturing equipment, follow specific direction, and other duties as assigned.  
  • Required to work overtime or weekends depending on production needs.

Pay Rate: $21.50 per hour
