The Infrastructure Engineer works on holistic engineering deliverables across different stages of the product lifecycle and determines technology patterns for the overall solution. This role takes the lead in guiding more junior engineers and is a role model in fostering the adoption of new technologies. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
Responsible for all aspects of the x86 hardware and software lifecycle for Virtual and Windows server solutions. Core competencies include but are not limited to VMware and Windows operating systems, x86 hypervisors, scripting/automation, HCIS and x86 hardware solutions. Works in agile product delivery team. Interfaces with Product Owner, Product Architect, Application Development and Operations teams on standards exceptions or troubleshooting of issues relating to hardware/OS/application integration.
Responsibilities
SME-level accountability for a specific technology and backup/secondary responsibility for another technology.
Documents current environments, SOPS, future directions, technical designs, change tickets, and other items for internal operations as well as external auditors.
Will be the escalation point for other team members and knowledgeable of all team technologies.
Responds to engagements from the Command Center and 1st level operations teams to provide production fixes and root cause analysis. Available on a pager rotation for 24x7 support
Experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server technologies
Installation, configuration, and administration of virtualization infrastructures running on VMware suite of products
Experience with x86 and HCIS platforms (Nutanix, Cisco UCS)
Strong PowerShell or Ansible scripting experience, especially with the goal of automation
Experience working under a Change Management umbrella, with strong policies and approval chain
Able to demonstrate a strong engineering mindset throughout the project lifecycle
Able to take responsibility and will pro-actively look to identify and improve existing processes and practices within the environment
Excellent Communication skills (spoken/written English) are a must, strong interpersonal skills
Must be able to multi-task and respond effectively under pressure
Contributes to team agile ceremonies, leads demos and presentations, helps new engineers learn established norms
Continues professional education and create opportunities for core product teams to learn engineering best practices
Achieves product commitments (and influences others to do the same) by using informal leadership & highly developed communication skills and contributes to or led technology communities
Uses automation, system tools, open-source solutions, observability and 'security first' principles in daily work
Contributes to team agile ceremonies, leads demos and presentations, helps new engineers learn established norms
Initiates high level solution design approaches, and guides team to achieve desired key software delivery capabilities using automated, coded enterprise and observability
Participates in internal speaking and advocacy events
Supports research activities to adopt new technology solutions in ways of developing new capabilities
Continues professional education and creates opportunities for core product teams to learn engineering best practices
Coaches immediate chapter and actively fosters the adoption of new technologies
Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:
Bachelors – Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics, Information Security, Information Technology or related
3+ Years – (Software) Engineering, DevOps or related
Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale
Preferred Qualifications
Bonus Points If You Have:
6+ years’ experience in large enterprise systems engineering, or related experience
Certification: Windows, VMware

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $86,500.00 to $146,100.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package.
