About the role:
The Remanufacturing Division has an excellent opportunity within our product team as the Manager NPI for Electronics. This position is responsible for directing a team of NPI leads to support and grow the $200M+ revenue business annually. This opportunity presents candidates with the ability to impact global sustainability, understand the Caterpillar Remanufacturing business, and develop new technologies to be implemented in a manufacturing environment.

Job responsibilities will Include but are not limited to:

  • Leading the electronics, starters & alternators and/or Large Rotating Electrics Reman business from conceptional strategies to NPI implementation and product maintenance.
  • Coordinating with the businesses, sales, marketing, and platform groups to manage resources for each deliverable within the project.
  • Overseeing project progress and costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems.
  • Developing NPI leads for current and future job roles.
  • Creating vision and direction for the business and translates it into a series of near term and long-range strategies and functional plans
  • Lead team in market research, identifying market/customer requirements leading to new strategies development and projects.
  • Communicating with customers and managing expectations; ensuring effective use of project controls and reporting mechanisms.
  • Influencing and collaborating on contractual agreements with suppliers and 3rd party manufacturers.

Skill Descriptors:

  • Leadership of Electronics NPI team and function: Setting strategic vision for the team and developing resource models to facilitate execution of the strategies. Continuous improvement mindset to develop growth strategies for both revenue and profit. Supporting NPI leads to execute projects through internal facilities and external supplier/3rd party remanufacturing partners.
    Level Extensive Experience:
    • Use business acumen to develop growth goals and strategies for the Ream electronics products.
    • Collaborates with business partners and develop SMART goals for the team aligned with Reman strategies.
    • Negotiate Reman contractual requirements with suppliers and 3rd party vendors on a regular basis.
    • Prioritize and manage workload of the team.
    • Lead and inspire the Electronics team to deliver NPI activities efficiently and maximize OPACC.
    • Create an engaging team culture with a growth mindset.
  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
    Level Extensive Experience:
    • Develops, refines, and communicates tactical plans for the teams responsibilities.
    • Demonstrates the value and necessity of linking tactical plans to overall strategic plan.
    • Ensures attention to the detail and dependencies of existing departmental-level plans.
    • Plans for allocation of resources in line with unit goals, technical and business objectives.
    • Ensures the planning process is integrated with the overall business plan.
  • Products and Services: Knowledge of products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.
    Level Extensive Experience:
    • Oversees development activities for multiple products or product lines.
    • Advises team on implementation and operational considerations.
    • Coaches others on key factors that differentiate offerings from that of competition.
    • Develops procedures for product planning, development, and delivery cycles.
    • Promotes understanding of Reman processes and strategies to meet customer needs
    • Monitors regulatory and environmental issues and considerations.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
    Level Expert:
    • Works to create a climate that values and rewards good oral and written communication.
    • Communicates effectively with diverse audiences, using appropriate media and language.
    • Engage Story telling skills to communicate the strategies and project outcomes.
    • Monitors developments in communications tools for potential use by organization.

Understanding of how the Reman product portfolio will benefit the customer.
    Level Extensive Experience:
    • Communicates with customers on quality of service measurements.
    • Works with marketing to develop the Reman value proposition for Reman products.
    • Ensures teams maintain focus on value-added services.
    • Identifies and resolves gaps in customer expectations versus actual service levels.
    • Verifies customer satisfaction and keeps customers informed.
  • Program Management: Knowledge of the policies and techniques to manage a set of related projects within a program; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control the set of projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve program objectives.
    Level Extensive Experience:
    • Coaches team to evaluates risks and vulnerabilities and creates contingency plans.
    • Advises others on preferred tools, techniques and methods for estimating program cost and time.
    • Coaches others in maintaining open communication among project managers and interested parties.
    • Oversees reporting requirements and creates monitoring and control mechanisms.
    • Plans, estimates, staffs, organizes and monitors a set of projects within a program.
