ROLE SUMMARY

The Director, Commercial Effectiveness is a key partner to their assigned CEP leadership team. They work to maximize the performance and effectiveness of the customer facing team by leading insights generation and innovative strategy development. This role is responsible for strategic planning, providing analytic and strategic support, optimizing field force deployment, and business planning.

In addition, this colleague will lead multiple strategic initiatives and priority projects in collaboration with the CEP and Marketing organizations, as well as other pan-US functions and departments. The goal is to ensure effective support for the business and facilitate the exchange of critical information with relevant stakeholders.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The individual should possess a combination of strategic thinking, hands-on analytical expertise, project management skills with excellent communication and presentation abilities to help the organization achieve aggressive patient impact and revenue targets. They will report directly to the Specialty Care CE Lead and collaborate closely with VP and National Sales leads, brand commercial leads, sales, account management, payer, Medical, corporate affairs, legal, finance, external third-party vendors, operations and Digital.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Lead Therapeutic Area Sales Strategy

  • Lead scorecard review with sales and Marketing leaders at regular business review discussions to track performance and share best practices and key insights

  • Partner with SCBU cross-functional partners and Commercial Analytics (CMO) colleagues to share and align on insights, strategies, and reporting

  • Identify opportunities and gaps in strategy/ tactical execution, develop and implement solutions via frequent interactions with field-based colleagues, brand team leaders and cross-functional partners

  • Develop a SCBU partnership & PFE collective advantage with learnings to enhance our organizational effectiveness aligned to our Purpose Blueprint 2.0

Optimize Field Force Deployment 

  • Leverage analytic capabilities to develop optimized field force scenarios for sizing, structure, and targeting

  • Partner with CE team lead to facilitate cross-functional teams to assess, design and implement deployment solutions aligned to operating plan and brand strategic priorities 

  • Develop tools and resources for leaders to optimize deployment based on local market dynamics, vacancies, and portfolio changes 

  • Proactively identify opportunities to drive innovation in our go-to-market model (structure, roles, technology and/or capabilities) 

Project Management 

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate new and ongoing projects to ensure on-time completion within budget and successful deployment

  • Connect granular task to longer-term strategic initiatives for SCBU  

  • Serve as a key liaison between leadership, vendors and key stakeholders to accelerate project success

  • Innovate and bring forward potential solutions to unmet, strategic needs across SCBU functions  

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS Degree required.  MBA or other advanced professional degree (e.g., PhD, MD, JD) preferred 

  • 10 years of previous pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical marketing/sales/consulting experience with a strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical marketplace and deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, broader trends in healthcare landscape and economics. 

  • 2+ years of hands-on commercial analytics or operations experience including broad background in consulting, business analytics, finance, health economics, marketing strategy, or equivalent set of experiences preferred 

  • Excellent analytical skills, including strategic thinking, ability to frame problems and opportunities using supporting data, problem solving and measuring impact 

  • Demonstrated proficiency at leading complex multi-faceted projects and managing cross-functional teams 

  • A thought leader and self-starter, proactively identifying the need for specific analyses and programs, and marshaling the resources to evaluate and resolve the most challenging, strategic issues 

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to lead change and influence without direct authority 

  • Ability to influence and establish good working relationships with senior executives 

  • Excellent communication skills, including presentations, PowerPoint/written, meeting facilitation, and one-on-one/small group 

  • Passion for innovation and excellence in achieving results

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Up to 25% travel required for Team Meetings, Sales Meetings, Field Rides, Alliance Meetings, etc.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $149,200.00 to $248,600.00.* In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. * The annual base salary for this position in Tampa, FL ranges from $134,300.00 to $223,800.00.
