WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Engineer, Buzz Squeak Rattle (BSR) will lead the development of vehicle level targets and specifications for BSR-related vehicle attributes, ensure feasibility, and execute validation on our vehicles. The Engineer, Buzz Squeak Rattle (BSR) will also work closely with the NVH Engineer to ensure overall vehicle quality for NVH-related and BSR-related vehicle characteristics.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO
Review vehicle design and materials for potential BSR issues.
Make design recommendations / best practice to ensure there are no BSRs.
Make material and material compatibility recommendations to ensure there are no BSRs.
Conduct testing / evaluation of prototype and production vehicles to root cause and remediate BSRs.
Design and facilitate implementation of the production plant BSR process, testing, and resolution.
Coordinate with the NVH Engineer to ensure overall vehicle noise and sound quality.
Work with design / release engineering and suppliers on BSR issues.
Perform NVH / BSR sound quality evaluations at End-Of-Line (EOL), reporting and resolving BSR issues in the assembly plant and assisting with NVH issues.
Perform component-level and vehicle-level NVH measurements to identify NVH and BSR issues and develop countermeasures.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field is required. Master's degree is preferred.
5+ years of experience in automotive vehicle development, with a focus in BSR and NVH work.
Design Release Engineering experience is a plus.
Broad vehicle development process knowledge, including how to set technical targets, work with teams to determine feasibility (virtually and physically), and validate with statistical confidence.
Functional experience with all NHTSA / FMVSS, CARB, EPA, FCC, or other regulatory requirements.
Technical writing and documentation experience is required.
Excellent team building and relationship building skills, including the ability to lead teams and meetings through technical tradeoffs and optimized solutions with attention to detail and follow-through.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
Highly adaptable and proactive, excelling in fast-paced start-up and new model launch environments.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the ability to travel (up to 25%).
Must have the ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
Must have the ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
