As Regional Sales Director for North American Flyfishing and Canada Wholesale, you will lead teams to build and implement strategies that meet sales and profitability goals as well as activism objectives for the North American Wholesale sales channel. You will report into the North American Wholesale Senior Director.
A successful candidate will have exemplary critical thinking, analytic, strategic, creative, planning and communication skills. Success is defined by hitting sales & profitability goals, building and maintaining trust with your teams and dealers and consistently doing what is right, not what’s easy. In this position, you are critical to the success of Patagonia’s mission statement of saving our home planet through a focus of building a sustainable business, educating, and inspiring dealers and customers by turning them into activists.
This role has five direct reports within the US Flyfishing Team, as well as four independent sales agencies in Canada.
What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with the Wholesale management team to determine seasonal sales goals and strategies. Successfully implement each of these seasonally within your region, by managing your region to sales, profitability, spending, and activism objectives.
- Provide your team with highly effective communication on goals, strategies, expectations and the why behind each of them. Leading, motivating and supporting your team with clarity, empathy, equity, and successful completion of objectives.
- Ensure Patagonia dealers are getting the best from Patagonia including people, business analysis, sales planning, selling assets, education, and overall service.
- Assist in determining what is and isn’t working in wholesale and provide creative solutions and leadership that will yield a better outcome.
- Work cross-functionally with the Dealer Service, Merchandising, Planning, Credit, Product and Marketing teams focused on keeping them up to date on what’s happening with the sales team. This includes surfacing ideas, needs, or threats that other teams need to know, work on or address for success in Wholesale or across channels.
- Regularly analyze your in-season and preseason business to find trends, opportunities, or threats.
- Consistently apply our mission statement in your work for Saving our Home Planet.
- Effectively manage your time to keep your team focused and on track to near-term goals, while also working on how we improve or sustainably grow our overall business in the future.
- This role requires extensive travel to various locations across the US and Canada. The successful candidate will be expected to spend up to 50% of their work time traveling to meet with dealers, attend trade shows, dealer events and spend time in our Ventura and Reno campuses.

Experience You Bring:
- 10+ years of outdoor specialty sales experience (required) coupled with minimums of 5+ years sales team management experience and 5+ years of direct selling experience.
- Flyfishing sales management experience is required.
- Expert understanding of retail and wholesale channels.
- Experience in sales leadership within the Canadian market preferred.
- Demonstrated personal involvement in saving our home planet.
- Involvement in company product related activities, and ability to develop rapport and gain respect of key participants in these sports.
- Strong analytical skills with the proven ability to interpret sales data and market trends to inform strategic decisions.
- Specific experience or examples of leading dynamic groups of people.
- Working level of personal computers with experience in use of Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint.
- Bachelor’s Degree a plus but not required.
Hiring range: $185,000,000- $215,000 USD Annual
At Patagonia, pay ranges are assigned to a job based on the location specific market median of similar jobs according to 3rd party salary benchmark surveys. Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget. Note the full pay range for this role ranges from: $159,800 - $239,700 USD. The Hiring Range reflects where in the range we intend to hire for this role.
