Central Maine Healthcare is looking for an RN to join the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation team!
This is a Part time, benefits eligible position with shifts of Monday - Wednesday - Friday. No weekends or Holidays!
Position Summary:
The Cardiopulmonary Rehab Nurse provides direct patient care in the Cardiopulmonary Rehab Department. Monitors patients during procedures/exercises for the detection of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities. Maintains the preventative and restorative health needs for the patients. Provides patient education on disease entities. Communicates with the physicians about changes in the patient's clinical condition including laboratory tests, results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and response to treatment. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities.
Regulatory Requirements:
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
• Current Registered Nurse Licensure in the state of Maine required
• Two or more years recent experience in critical care/cardiac care required
• Current ACLS and BCLS certifications required
• Ability to read telemetry required
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Performs head-to-toe assessments on all patients and reassessments as per policy.
2. Demonstrates ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plan at each visit.
3. Knowledge of medications, treatments and their correct administration based on the age of the patient, infants, through the geriatric population, and their clinical condition.
4. Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
5. Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies dysrhythmias and treats appropriately based upon ACLS protocol.
6. Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching as appropriate.
7. Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient including infant, pediatric, geriatric and the general population.
8. Demonstrates extensive knowledge of cardiac disease/procedures/surgery: MI, CABG, coronary stents, angioplasty, etc.
9. Demonstrates extensive knowledge of pulmonary disease entities; COPD, adult and pediatric asthma, cystic fibrosis, etc.
10. Demonstrates extensive knowledge of cardiac stress tests: treadmill, chemical stress test, nuclear stress test, echocardiogram.
11. Demonstrates extensive knowledge of various pulmonary testing/procedures; pulmonary function testing, peak flows, breathing treatments, etc.
12. Demonstrates knowledge of pain assessment and management policies and procedures.
13. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.
14. Educates patients and families about cardiopulmonary risk factors and how to promote a healthy way of living.
15. Treats all patients and families with respect and dignity.
16. Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.
17. Communicates appropriately and clearly to director, co-workers and physicians.
18. Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
19. Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
20. Documentation meets current standards and policies.
21. Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and their families.
22. Stays current with new treatments/technology/advancements through continuing education, seminars/conferences, professional journals/societies.
23. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
24. Performs other duties as assigned.
