What we are looking for: 

As the Canadian Digital Business Driver for all Digital Equipment products the position’s purpose is to open up new business opportunities and drive new sales in the Canadian print market. Additionally, the position is responsible to support the achievement of Heidelberg Canada’s digital AOP targets in both sales and profit targets for the digital press product lines as well as to be Heidelberg Canada’s business zealot for these products.  To achieve these objectives this position requires developing and managing to a yearly business plan with specified deliverables.  

This Digital Business Driver acts as a cross organizational leader with responsibility as the primary interface with the sales team, Heidelberg Canada and corporate, external suppliers, as well as all internal departments.  The position manages revenue related to the product and works with internal departments to drive cost efficiency and customer responsiveness to build customer loyalty. 

The position also acts as an interface to the North American print industry related to these products and promoting awareness and market share of the product, as well as competitive product positioning and sales tactics.   It requires strategic market planning and execution as well as tactical sales. 

Job responsibilities include providing technical product support and tactical pricing (both equipment and click service) digital press sales support to the field (Sales Account Managers & Regional VP’s), building relationships between the Canada sales team and OEM suppliers, working with the demo team, marketing, operations, service department, business development, collaboration with the US and Germany on special applications for our customers, market requirement input for new products, launch management, and competitive analysis.

Location: Based out of Mississauga, Ontario and handling the Canadian market.   Working from home office, weekly travel to local customers as required. Other travel as required.

Ideal candidate will have marketing, sales and technical skills and experience in offset print production, background in print related consumables sales, or print industry capital equipment sales. Must also have eligible work permit to work in Canada

What you will do:

This position is accountable for achieving the market awareness, penetration, and driving sales targets for its products through a combination of product strategy and planning, sales support and working cooperatively with the sales leadership team, Heidelberg’s Sales Account Managers, Consumable Customer Service Representative staff, Logistics, and other departmental staff. Key responsibilities include:  

  • Product Sales Support - Support the digital press product lines through their life cycle (launch through EOL). Technical product support and tactical pricing support, and sales strategy implementation with the Heidelberg Canada Account Managers, and Regional VP’s. This includes sales tools development, education, tactical pricing with financial analysis, specials, equipment comparisons about features & benefits, and prospect tracking and development.  

  • Leads strategies to help differentiate Heidelberg from the competition including working with Prepress on workflow solutions and color management. Work with the demo team for what products to show and capital planning, customer demonstrations and open houses. Frequent travelling with the sales team, local supplier events, trade shows, and customer direct interfacing to help build relationships and support sales. Helps develop and reviews sales contracts with special terms to make sure they do not expose Canada to undue business risk.

  • Product Business Management - Helping the VP Sales and VP Digital with AOP planning and tracking, and monthly updates for evaluation of our targets. Contribute to strategic pricing based on market conditions to achieve profit and sales targets. Works with Product Management Team related to sales tools, sales training, and new product features for input into the suppliers and Heidelberg Corporate on future products.
  • Driving sales success within the country with direct support of the Account Managers on their sales prospects and actions to close the sale.Monitor profitability of the products through the year and work with the service, controlling, operations, procurement, and logistics departments as well as the factory or suppliers on actions to improve cost efficiency Quarterly calls with corporate product management and suppliers, to align our sale targets and objectives.

  • Product Voice to the Market – Demonstrates passion for the products both externally to the marketplace and internally within Heidelberg.   Works with the US marketing team for trade show planning, installation reports, internet promotion, national sales meeting preparation, and advertising.  Providing demonstration assistance/support at national, regional, and local shows and in the Kennesaw demonstration center.
  • Drives internal awareness and passion for the product as well as fast response in helping to close sales and resolve customer issues. Updating the Sales Portal with new information – sale brochures, power points, video’s, comparisons, CAD drawings for all product lines, Clarify (CRM) feature & benefits updates for quoting.

  • Applications Support & Consulting: Special applications support and customer consulting – Supporting the sales team with special applications support with customer prospects.   Preparing quotes outside the system for special equipment with the aid of the digital suppliers and outside vendors.   Working with the demo team and factory in support of testing of special applications. 
  • Enhances system and product knowledge as related to prospect and client needs, applications, and environments. When a technical problem or application issue escalates, assists Technical Support in handling customer problems via phone or at the client's site and may act as a project coordinator/ facilitator with service and supplier to resolve the problem.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years’ digital printing sales and digital product experience, including navigating operational organizations and driving sales targets.
  • Post Secondary education is preferred.
  • Print industry background is preferred.

Skills:

  • Exhibit strong product knowledge of Digital Print engine technology, digital press pricing strategies, digital press workflows and applications and controllers, and digital press sales tactics.
  • In depth experience in end-to-end sales tools and support.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels inside and outside of the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with pricing and sales forecasting.
  • Polished sales presentation techniques and proven sales techniques
  • Intermediate personal computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and CRM
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and arrive to sound conclusions that benefit both the customer and Heidelberg.
  • Ability to travel daily, depending on customer site and needs.
