TITLE:                     Maintenance Lead

LOCATION:            North Kansas City

REPORTS TO:        Maintenance Execution Manager

The Maintenance Lead will support the critical aspects of the maintenance department to ensure the continuous and ongoing operations of the plant. This position is responsible for coaching and developing maintenance technicians to provide a safe and reliable starch manufacturing environment.  This position is instrumental in driving the Company’s maintenance strategy to provide business results and satisfy customer needs.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Accepting responsibility for the safe completion of all work completed under direct supervision and conducting routine safety walks and inspections of the site.
  • Taking ownership of the equipment in the unit and across the plant to ensure continuous and reliable operation, responding to all unplanned maintenance needs, and providing technical expertise to troubleshoot plant issues.
  • Providing leadership to drive innovation and improvements as the organization transitions from a reactive maintenance environment to proactive.
  • Scheduling maintenance plan and staff to optimize service and minimize costs, as well as coordination of overtime hours for work completion.
  • Contribute to spare parts management.
  • Strive to quickly resolve day to day maintenance issues while balancing projects and prioritizing work between multiple departments.
  • Possess the ability to understand baseline knowledge of unit operations to record, share and utilize that knowledge in the maintenance function.
  • Understand internal customer needs and their connection to the needs of external customers.
  • Ability to train and coach others to improve performance.
  • Design, plan and execute simple projects, working with the Maintenance Manager to carry out the Maintenance Strategy for the site.
  • Ability to build consensus and foster positive relationships.
  • Utilize your knowledge and experience to recognize and implement opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to support night and weekend issues when needed.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent technical degree and a minimum of 5 years maintenance experience, including 3 years supervisory experience.
  • Practical understanding of predictive maintenance tools/techniques, precision maintenance skills and experience in a multi-craft environment is a plus.
  • The ability to effect change through persuasion and excellent communication.
  • Ability to obtain results through other by establishing an environment of employee growth, trust and accountability.
