About the Role
This position is within Harman’s Automotive Division, under the Connectivity Strategic Business Unit (SBU). As the 2-wheeler industry is rapidly transforming due to shifting riders’ expectations, technological advancements, and a heightened focus on Telematics services experience enhanced by connectivity, the Connectivity SBU is seeking an innovative and driven 2-wheeler Connectivity Product Management to define and execute the strategic roadmap for Ready ride end-to-end telematics solution.
Your Role/Team
This position will report to a Product Business lead for Ready ride and will be an individual contributor role working with cross-functional teams to ensure the success of the product suite. This is a unique opportunity to lead the market adoption of evolving connectivity technologies such as 5G cellular, satellite communication, Wi-Fi / Bluetooth, as well as Telematics Services such as Over the Air updates, CarPlay/AA, Safety and Security Telematics services to build an end-to-end solution for 2-wheeler OEMs and riders. By supporting and leading efforts in the Ready ride team under Portfolio Management team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of connected 2-wheeler industry through product strategy and roadmap development. Achieving these objectives requires a forward-thinking perspective, hands-on approach, collaborative mindset, and attention to details.
What You Will Do
Product Strategy / Roadmap Development
Product portfolio: Define product portfolio strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with market / technology trends and organizational visions / competencies
Product line:
Define product lines in the portfolio through identifying market opportunities and defining product strategies.
Define high-level technical concepts involving hardware, software, and services with key differentiators.
Document key findings and decisions in Market Requirements Documents (MRDs) / Product Requirements Documents (PRDs).
Drive the internally defined process for new product lines
Update the portfolio roadmap and product lines on a regular and on-demand basis
Market Analysis and Benchmarking
Market opportunity analysis: Understand market / customer requirements, focusing on 2-wheeler OEMs’ connectivity strategies, connectivity standards, and regulations
Competitive analysis: Understand competitive landscape and document key findings
Work with Solution Architects to identify new market opportunities and integrate market trends into product lines
Work with Automotive division team to develop frameworks to assess competitors
Market and Technology Leadership
Go-To-Market (GTM) / Customer Engagement: Work with GTM lead to define GTM strategies and support customer engagement for successful product adoption
Partners and suppliers: Identify and engage with key partners and suppliers to align product offerings with their technology roadmaps
Business Model Innovations: Explore new business models to establish additional revenue sources
Technology Innovations: Generate innovative ideas and protect them as Intellectual Property (IP)
Proof of Concept (PoC) / Demo: Develop PoC proposals for 2-wheeler OEMs to demonstrate and evaluate new use cases and technologies
Marketing: Provide input to Marketing team to create effective marketing collaterals for customer meetings and trade shows
Industry recognition: Establish industry recognition as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the organization and across the industry
Cost leadership: Work with Finance team to create and update product business cases. Review revenue and cost structure and make necessary decision to enhance financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Business Case (BC) and Business Commitment
BC: Create and update product BCs by working with Financial Controllers
Business Commitment: Obtain approvals / business commitment for product development
Product Development Tracking
Making sure the product development is meeting the roadmap expectation
Cross-Functional Collaboration / Reporting
Collaborate with internal teams such as engineering, product delivery, business development / customer account management, procurement, manufacturing, finance, marketing, legal, government affairs to execute product strategy successfully
Support internal reporting / review activities on a regular and on-demand basis
Engage with external partners, suppliers, and regulatory bodies as needed
Additional Responsibilities:
Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the overall success of the product management team
What You Need
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
1 to 3 years of overall working experience, preferable 1 year in product management, product development, or a related role within automotive OEMs, suppliers, or technology sectors such as wireless communication and semiconductor.
General knowledge of vehicle Electrical and Electronics (E/E) architectures, infotainment and connectivity systems and Telematics services
General understanding of wireless standards such as 3GPP cellular (4G/5G), satellite communications, Wi-Fi / Bluetooth, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)
Ability to discuss system-level considerations of end-to-end telematics system (Cloud-based applications, IP / Mobile Network Operator (MNO) network, wireless propagation channel, antenna / RF, baseband, security)
Proficiency in data analysis and documentation tools (Microsoft Office, Aha!, Salesforce, etc.)
Project management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
What is Nice to Have
Master’s degree in engineering
Knowledge of automotive telematics / connectivity products / projects
Knowledge of relevant regulations / recommendations such as eCall
Technical savvy in AI
What Makes You Eligible
Be willing to travel up to 40% domestic and international travel and occasionally travel to customer location and Harman facilities.
