This part-time customer services position helps deliver library services by assisting patrons in their use of library spaces and services. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. This position works a variable schedule including evenings and weekends.

Job Description

  • Staff library service desks, opening and closing library spaces as assigned.
  • Greets patrons, helping and directing them to requested service points within the facility and to other departments within the College.  
  • Access borrower records to check library materials in and out, renew items, and update account information as needed.
  • Shelves library materials and preserves the physical appearance and order of collections through shelving, shelf reading, and shifting.
  • Guides patrons in using computers, copiers, equipment, and printers.
  • Collects and logs library charges when appropriate, making change for cash transactions.
  • Inspects items for damage and notifies a supervisor if needed.
  • Ensures users receive excellent customer service.
  • Maintains confidentiality of user information.
  • Contributes to work in other library functional areas as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary $14.00 per hour

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the organization and administration of various higher education academic and social programs.
  • Knowledge of campus and community resources.
  • Knowledge of state, federal, and campus rules, regulations, and requirements related to campus academic and social programs.
  • Ability to coordinate the activities of campus academic and/or social programs.
  • Ability to evaluate collected information and formulate into recommendations.
  • Ability to compile information into report form.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Previous library or computer lab experience preferred
