Job Description:

The Director of Catastrophic (CAT) Exposure Data is responsible for overseeing the management and analysis of catastrophic risk exposure to support risk assessment and decision-making processes. This role involves strategic planning, data analysis, risk assessment and stakeholder collaboration to ensure effective risk mitigation and alignment with the company's risk appetite. This position will oversee a growing team of 20 direct/indirect reports and will need to guide manager level leaders on best practices.

Key focus areas:

  • Leading the development and implementation of catastrophe exposure modelling strategies and methodologies
  • Managing a team of analysts to ensure accurate data collection, validation, and reporting.
  • Collaborating with customer underwriting, risk management, and actuarial teams to integrate exposure data into business strategies.
  • Analyzing and interpreting complex data sets to provide insights on potential risks and exposures.


 

Job Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience: 10 years of within Property Insurance
  • Management experience: minimum 4-5 years spent in Team Management, SLA & Client Management, past experience mentoring leaders
  • Education: degree in Mathematics, Geography, Meteorology, Geology, Civil/ Structural Engineering
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the insurance and reinsurance industry, particularly in the context of catastrophe risk.
  • Team collaboration, ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including remote teams in different time zones and globally distributed.
  • Experience with Commercial Building designs. MS office suite, CAT modeling software, SQL & VBA.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Stays current with industry trends, regulatory requirements and advancements in catastrophe modeling technologies
  • Proven track record of managing large, complex portfolios and developing innovative strategies
  • Advanced certificates as applicable
  • Deep understanding of the global insurance markets, including regulatory environments and industry best practices
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex risk information to senior management and stakeholders
  • Ability to develop and implement long-term risk management strategies that align with company's business objectives
