This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight.
The BE-4 Main Injector & Heat Exchanger Product Team Lead is the manager of a diverse and hardworking team of combustion device engineers, engine design and integration engineers, projects engineers, and analysts. As the manager, you will set technical direction, set priorities in line with programmatic goals, train team members to support current and future BE-4 engine needs, and progress combustion devices (Injectors, Hex, and related components) the BE-4 Engine through every stage of an engineered products’ lifecycle. You will also support In House and Supplier activities in the design and fabrication of the Main Injector and HEx. This includes leading and promoting opportunities to realize Process Improvement and development activities in for all phases of the Main Injector and Hex life cycle that will support delivery of our product at rate.
You will be responsible for the complete employee experience including hiring, performance management, training and providing tools for career development. You will help to improve technical processes and tool development around focused areas of DFM, execution, and engine development cycles.

In addition to people manager responsibilities, you will contribute to and lead component design, manufacturing, test support, perform data reviews and Test Readiness Reviews, support anomaly investigations and root cause analysis to drive corrective actions and hardware improvements.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Functional manager of dedicated individuals to the Main Injector / HEx Product team
Training and providing tools for career development
Owning component level program technical performance metrics and developing plans for execution
Lead component design, manufacturing, test support, and readiness reviews
Manage in house and supplier initiatives and activities
Support team through anomaly and root cause investigations
Owning MI and HEx components throughout entire life cycle of the BE-4 Engine
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering (aerospace, mechanical, chemical or physics desired)
5+ years of aerospace industry or related field experience
Strong technical fundamentals in mechanical design, manufacturing, materials processing including welding, brazing, additive manufacturing
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Demonstrated experience with Computer aided design tools (CAD)
Demonstrated experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
Proven understanding of production processes
Familiarity with data analysis and data processing
Demonstrated success with corrective action implementation
Consistent track record leading teams through earning trust and maintaining positive, professional relationships in a way that would strengthen our culture of inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications
Engineering M.S. or higher
8+ years liquid rocket engine combustion devices experience
Technical fundamentals of rocket engine propulsion, fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer and/or combustion
Working knowledge of combustion devices design, manufacturing, and testing
Lean or six-sigma knowledge/certifications
Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $136,620.00-$191,268.00Other site ranges may differ
