GoDaddy is seeking an experienced leader to serve as our Chief People Officer (CPO) to drive our culture, build value for our employees, serve as a leader of our company as a member of GoDaddy’s Leadership Team, and lead our global People team. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader who embodies, and role models GoDaddy’s Way of Working as noted in this job description, emphasizing ruthless prioritization, evidence-based decision making, and a people-first approach that drives both employee and business success.
Location Details:
At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time; others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days) and some work entirely remotely.
This position may be a hybrid or fully remote position, as decided by your manager. If designated as hybrid, you’ll divide your time between working remotely from your home and an office location, so you should live within commuting distance. If designated as remote, you’ll be working remotely from your home and may occasionally visit a GoDaddy office to meet with your team for events or meetings. Your hiring manager can share more about this role’s hybrid or remote designation.
What you'll get to do...
• Lead the People function with a mix of strategic vision and hands-on execution, adapting to both growth and scaling, as well as contracting, as our business requires.
• Collaborate closely with CEO and the GoDaddy Leadership Team (GLT), acting as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to help drive organizational success.
• Ensure alignment of the People team strategies with GoDaddy’s overarching business goals, fostering a culture where accountability, transparency and communication with our employees, and empowered decision-making drive results aligned with GoDaddy’s mission “to empower entrepreneurs everywhere, making opportunity more inclusive for all.”
• Commitment to measuring and improving operational effectiveness. Use data and metrics to drive continuous improvement across the People team, applying GoDaddy’s focus on creating an “instrumented business” to improve predictability, accountability, and building value for our employees. Lead with a commitment to the “Better Every Day” model, encouraging small, incremental improvements that compound over time. • Serve as the cultural champion of GoDaddy, ensuring alignment between our values and business outcomes, and fostering a workplace where employees thrive.
• Champion the development of a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and belonging-focused culture, embedding DEIB principles into all aspects of the employee experience and leadership practices. Promote a culture where every team member is empowered to be authentic, take initiative, and make informed decisions that benefit stakeholders.
• Lead and support the company through change, ensuring smooth transitions during periods of growth, reorganization, or operational shifts.
• Develop and execute strategies that enhance GoDaddy’s employer brand, attracting top talent in a competitive tech environment while retaining and engaging current employees.
Ideal Candidate:
• Proven Leadership: A track record of success in leading People teams, with the ability to influence and inspire others. Strong focus on empowering teams and delegating decisions for speed and ownership. Ideal candidate has a track record of driving results, strong cross-functional relationships and building a strong team that is always growing and improving.
• Strategic and Hands-On: Demonstrates a blend of strategic thinking and pragmatic operational execution. Comfortable in both resource-constrained environments and scaling global teams as needed, prioritizing initiatives that have the greatest impact.
• Strong Partnership with Leadership: A trusted advisor to the CEO and the GLT, fostering strong partnerships and aligning the People team initiatives with broader company goals. Helps leadership teams prioritize, focusing on activities that deliver the greatest value and work through “human first” organizational changes.
• Tech Industry Experience: Experience in the tech industry is strongly preferred, bringing relevant knowledge to address the unique needs of our organization, such as adjusting to competitive market pressures, balancing profitability with rewards, attracting talent from technical companies and universities, etc.
• GoDaddy Way of Working: Candidates who demonstrate alignment with GoDaddy’s Way of Working will be prioritized. This includes a commitment to evidence-based decision making, a focus on empowering teams through delegated decisions, and a passion for continuous improvement. While previous experience as a CPO is valuable, candidates showing strong curiosity, an openness to learning, growth potential and alignment with our Way of Working are encouraged to apply.
• Communication: Proven communicator of strategic vision, operational change, operating complexities, organizational asks and cultural improvements. A proven communicator from Board to Town Halls to Department functions, technical teams to product teams and customer facing organizations.
Your experience should include...
• 15+ years of experience in People Operations or Human Resources leadership roles, ideally within tech or high-growth environments. Public company experience preferred.
• Experience across multiple HR functions, such as employee relations, talent management, organizational development, total rewards, learning, internal communications, talent acquisition, diversity and inclusion, etc.
• Experience leading through change, scaling organizations, and driving a culture of innovation and inclusion.
• Proven ability to create value for employees through initiatives and data-driven decision making.
• M&A and integration experience highly valuable.
• Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on operational excellence.
