The Financial Data Scientist III maintains and improves various enterprise performance management `and financial reporting systems that enable our users to perform critical financial analysis and statutory reporting. This includes working across the Oracle EPM applications, Oracle Essbase, Dodeca, and Power BI data sets and applications. Data from these systems is eventually relied upon by customers and with respect to Williams, for SEC reporting and analysis, management reporting and analysis, financial planning and forecasting.

Financial Data Scientist III

Responsibilities/Expectations:

  • Connects with end-users to understand their processes and data needs including areas such as financial statement preparation, SEC reporting, FERC reporting, and Expense and Capital reporting

  • Works with other technical groups to ensure user data requirements are collected and being worked by technical resources within F&A and IT

  • Collaborates with various functional and technical teams throughout the organization to identify and resolve system issues, with a dedication to ongoing process improvement.

  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Years of Experience:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related business field; a minimum of three (3) years of experience working with Financial Models and Reporting tools

Other Requirements:

  • Solid understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills

  • Proficiency in reporting and automation tools such as Essbase, Planning, Power BI, Power Automate, and RPA technologies

  • Preferred: experience with accounting processes including expense reports, property accounting, and/or projects reporting.

Financial Data Scientist II

  • Accounts for ongoing basic maintenance, trouble-shooting, and improvements of Oracle EPM and Analytics cloud applications

  • Updates hierarchies and logic scripts, monitors workflows, and trouble-shoots as the need arises

  • Connects with end-users to understand their processes and data needs including areas such as financial statement preparation, SEC reporting, FERC reporting, and Expense and Capital reporting

  • Works with other technical groups to ensure user data requirements are collected and being worked by technical resources within F&A and IT

  • Collaborates with various functional and technical teams throughout the organization to identify and resolve system issues and strive for improvements

  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Years of Experience:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related business field; a minimum of two (2) years of similar experience

  • Preferred: Some experience working in financial models or accounting processes

Other Requirements:

  • Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority

  • Strong understanding of GAAP

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills

  • Strong desire to learn data analytics or data science

  • Familiarity with reporting and automation tools such as Essbase, Planning, Power BI, Power Automate, and RPA technologies
