As a regional leader on the Family Office team, the Director is often the key individual orchestrating a holistic approach with ideas and solutions for clients alongside their everyday commercial or wealth relationship manager.   This senior wealth professional role requires experience, passion, and a sales-focused approach - someone adept at building trust and rapport with advisors and clients.

Significant wealth brings opportunity, but it can also be surprisingly complex, with goals that span business, lifestyle, family and legacy.  The Director will bring together the bank’s best cross-disciplinary team to help manage and preserve it.   The BMO Family Office works exclusively with individuals and families to craft a clear vision for their wealth.  Leveraging its experience working with over 500 families across North America, the BMO Family Office partners with families to understand their unique needs on a holistic level and execute on a personal level.

  • Provides thought leadership around incremental value-add for BMO Family Office clients.
  • Works to internally support wealth professionals.
  • Provides specialized accessibility to BMO Family Office professionals and clients and connectivity across the organization as needed.
  • Acts as the primary contact point into the Family Office team.
  • Responsible for initial deal opportunity assessment and triage, in discussion with relationship teams & advisors.
  • Implements strategies to increase the scope of services to help clients achieve their personal goals and to contribute to the overall growth of business results.
  • The ability to learn quickly across multiple disciplines, and strong articulation of value proposition is critical to this role.
  • Introduces the BMO Family Office platform to clients, supporting the lead relationship managers & advisors.
  • Develops internal/external networks and referral sources to grow BMO Family Office business, including brand awareness.
  • Oversees the creation of content and marketing materials for new business proposals.
  • Plays a primary role in client meeting content and pitch materials, supported by Sales Associate team member.
  • Ensures connectivity across the Family Office platform to bring additional capabilities to clients as appropriate.
  • Maintains tracking of all deal opportunities to ensure continuous follow up & execution.
  • Provides oversight and handles escalations on complex situations.
  • Provides insight and direction in the development and delivery of wealth management advice and solutions.
  • Provides strategic input into business decisions as a trusted advisor.
  • Makes recommendations to senior leaders on strategy and new initiatives, based on an in-depth understanding of the business/group.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on relevant regulations and policies.
  • May network with industry contacts to gain competitive insights and best practices.
  • Manages resources and leads the execution of strategic initiatives to deliver on business and financial goals.
  • Helps determine business priorities and best sequence for execution of business/group strategy.
  • Conducts independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
  • Develops the business case by identifying needs, analyzing potential options, and assessing expected return on investment.
  • Recommends business priorities, advises on resource requirements, and develops roadmap for strategic execution.
  • Acts as the prime subject matter expert for internal/external stakeholders.
  • Ability to network and build relationships and leverage those relationships Enterprise-wide.
  • Leads change management programs of varying scope and type, including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation, and sustainment of initiatives.
  • Provides input into the planning and implementation of operational programs.
  • Develops and manages a business/group program.
  • Reviews the program for effectiveness, considers industry trends and recommends enhancements; makes changes as required.
  • Oversees the design, development, and implementation of tools and training required to deliver business results.
  • Uses an advisory-based financial planning approach to manage opportunities and relationships with entrepreneurs and affluent high net worth individuals.
  • Utilizes profiling tools to identify client needs and appropriate relationship management.
  • Collaborates effectively with internal stakeholders to build capability and drive business growth; provides education and insight to referral sources to improve identification of potential clients.
  • Develops rapport and instills confidence with the client to develop credibility and earn their trust.
  • Monitors and tracks performance; addresses any issues.
  • Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.
  • Provides input into the planning and implementation of operational programs.
  • Executes work to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service.
  • Follows through on the risk and compliance processes and policies to ensure we safeguard our customers’ assets, maintain their privacy, act in their best interests, and ensures an effectively run function.
  • Protects the Bank's assets and complies with all regulatory, legal, and ethical requirements.
  • Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non-routine.
  • Implements changes in response to shifting trends.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Typically 15+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Broad knowledge of commercial banking & wealth management / financial services including private banking / lending, investments, estates and trust, and tax services.
  • Ability to build confidence with sophisticated referral sources and clients and identifies both immediate and long-term financial needs of wealthy clients.
  • Ability to articulate and communicate BMO & Family Office value proposition and insights with conviction.
  • Ability to build and maintain network across the BMO Enterprise
  • Ability to navigate complexities of different business cultures and operating environments.
  • Ability to think differently and managing competing priorities.
  • Ability to interact, engage, and execute confidently across different levels of seniority both internally & externally.
  • Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience, and industry knowledge.
  • Bilingualism required (French/English)

You’re fluent in French and English as this role provides support to clients and team members inside and/or outside the province of Quebec.

Salary:

$84,000.00 - $156,000.00

Salaried & Commission

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
