ROLE SUMMARY

A world where people with cancer live better and longer lives, that’s Pfizer Oncology’s vision.  We are accelerating breakthrough medicines that bring new hope to patients everywhere.  Many of these breakthroughs are biologic buy-and-bill products like Elrexfio and Padcev, among others in our pipeline.  By 2030, we anticipate biologics will account for 65% of the Pfizer Oncology business vs. today’s 6%.

At a time of rapid market evolution, account consolidation, increasing account influence and a shift in the definition of value in the US oncology marketplace, business success in buy-and-bill biologics requires a deep understanding of provider dynamics and a careful balance of near-term actions with long-term impact.  To address this, US Oncology has built a market-leading buy-and-bill capability to spearhead provider strategy for our growing portfolio of biologic medicines.

The Director, Strategic Modeling and Analysis is a key member of the Oncology organization.  This colleague will be aligned to the Hematology and Gastro Urinary (GU) franchises, which include Pfizer Oncology future growth engines like Elrexfio and Padcev.  He/she will be responsible for financial modeling, ASP forecasting and analytics of buy-and-bill contracting models across hospital systems, GPO customer segments and key accounts.

The Director, Strategic Modeling and Analysis will report directly to the Biologics Value Strategy and Biosimilars Team Lead and will also work closely with their peer Value Strategy Leads for Hematology and GU, the US Hematology and GU Franchise and Brand Leads, the National Accounts and USMA teams, among others, to support the Franchise objectives through strategic contracting expertise.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with Franchise, Value Strategy Leads, USMA, Finance, Analytics, and National Accounts team, among others, in the development and implementation of innovative provider pricing and contracting strategies to help the Hematology and GU achieve their growth and revenue goals.

  • Integrate payer and provider pricing and financial considerations to create a 360-degree view of the business. Thoroughly pressure test and assess implications of payer and provider contracting initiatives on brand economics, including ASP trajectory and P&L.

  • Lead modeling to support brand financial management and senior leadership endorsement of pricing and contracting strategies for key accounts, including:

    • Develop mid- to long-term ASP forecasts.

    • Develop financial forecast in support of annual Operating Plan and quarterly Latest Estimates.

    • Support decision-making for various payer / provider contracting scenarios; and continuously monitor market performance and adjust pricing and contracting approach as necessary. Evaluate ROIs of contracts

  • In partnership with peer Value Strategy Leads, co-lead US provider pricing interface with: USMA, Finance, Analytics, contract strategy teams, and customer-facing teams.

  • Lead performance tracking, leveraging both IQVIA and chargeback data to help identify performance opportunities and shortfalls.

  • Identify customer insights for monthly/quarterly business reviews and operating plan.

  • Develop and implement innovative data generation projects to reinforce brand value proposition to US corporate customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

  • 8 years pharmaceutical industry experience with a strong preference for those with Market Access or Contracting experience. Strategic planning, Pricing, Marketing experience is a plus.

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA or other graduate degree preferred.

  • Financial modeling and forecasting experience required, prior experience in financial planning and analysis, P&L forecasting preferred.

  • Knowledge of US buy-and-bill marketplace, ASP-based reimbursement, and key value chain players

  • Demonstrated experience that shows he/she has finger on the pulse of the customer, can take accountability for business challenges and tackle complex problems; willing to learn and embrace new approaches to modeling.

  • Track record of strong performance, teamwork, creativity. Strong strategic and analytical thinking abilities.  Ability to lead initiatives in a highly matrixed environment and gain buy-in across multiple groups across Pfizer that may have different points of view.

  • Ability to analyze complex data and develop and implement related strategic recommendations. Deep analytics fluency continuously monitors insights, and has a test-and-learn, iterative mindset.

  • Acts decisively. Ability to move fast in response to what is happening in the external marketplace even when there may not be precedent or historical data.

  • An "execution mindset" focused on getting things done quickly and simply. Demonstrated execution and project management skills, with an ability to work very proactively and under tight timelines.

  • Excellent writing, oral and presentation skills; Ability to convey and effectively communicate pricing analysis project proposals and strategies, and the results of complex data analyses to diverse audiences.

  • High level of integrity, transparency of conduct.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple activities.

  • Advanced Excel modeling capabilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in Oncology marketplace.

  • Experience in account management or account management support functions.

  • Managed Care or Customer Strategy experience and in depth understanding of the healthcare market.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • 20% domestic travel.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $169,700.00 to $282,900.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
